Asian hate has a long history in the United States going back to the 1800s and the building of the transcontinental railroad as low paid Chinese workers displaced Americans. It included instances of mass murder and many other acts of violence and harassment of Asians. But it has also been enshrined in laws prohibiting Asian immigration, citizenship, intermarriage and establishment of concentration camps. Politically, Asian countries are demonized to serve as scapegoats.
