Serial killer

Warning: Spoilers
Our main interest in watching this film made for French television was the presence of Emilie Dequenne, a young actress whose work one has admired in previous films. This police thriller was conceived and directed by Frederic Tellier.

Sarah Lisbourne, a young detective, has a special interest in getting involved in the investigation of a young woman whose gruesome killing is being investigated. Much to her chagrin, her superior does not want Sarah to be part of the team, which arises her suspicions of something is being covered. She gets her way into the apartment of the victim, where she realizes this case ties in with another serial killer who was killed.

The young detective also has reasons to believe that another cop, Luc Soubeillon, whose work in the previous killer's investigation got him injured in a leg, knows a lot more than he tells her. Luc now working in the past records departments is a man bitter about what fate had in store for him, so when Sarah shows him her suspicions, he understands he must come to help her.

Sarah is not completely upfront in what her motivations really are about. In fact, she has been paying a man who is in jail, a serious murderer because he was responsible for the death of about ten women, one of them being Sarah's own mother whose body was never recovered and now she wants to get to the bottom of the mystery.

A god action thriller, "Obssession(s), keeps moving at a quick pace thanks to Frederic Tellier's direction. The action is well paced, keeping the audience guessing who is behind the horrible crimes the police are investigating. The cast is first rate. Ms. Dequenne keeps impressing since her debut in "Rosetta". She makes a good case for her Sarah, a troubled young woman intent in seeking justice. Simon Le Bihan appears as Luc, the man with bad memories and a wounded leg he got in the line of duty.
