This was one of several Fox TV pilots that wasn't picked up as a series and subsequently "burned off" during the summer of 1990. Each pilot aired only once, on a Wednesday night at 9:30 pm, over a six-week period from July 25 to August 29. This one aired August 22.
Based on the real-life experiences of writers Robbie Fox and Billy Ray, who were roommates for a year at Northwestern University.
The project was sold to Warner Bros as "The Odd Couple in College". On the day it was greenlit, the writers Billy Ray & Robbie Fox (Who were college roommates 8 years earlier) were asked to take the characters out of college and into the working world. Jim Carrey read for the role of Bobby. Ben Stiller met on the project as well.
