"Gratitude" is a simple film that packs a punch. Director, Eric Mattson shows his passion for the underdog with his subtle pacing and a directing style that shows his strength for bringing out his performances from his actors.His superb use of locations fits the story and characters perfectly.The editing for "Gratitude" was on mark and moved along at a nice leisure pace allowing the viewer to take every scene in comfortably. Great cinematography and the shot composition really paints a picture for our lead character. I give "Gratitude" an A+ in my book! I am looking forward to seeing Eric's upcoming feature film.. Look for more of Eric Mattson's work in the near future.

Going Over The Top Once Again ! ! !

Eric Mattson surveys up a simple story to a great effect. The lead character strongly conveys the role of a homeless man in Chicago struggling with his day to day life. Mattson truly is a gifted producer. I truly enjoyed the way in which he molds life's simple events barely thought about by most into a storyline that truly touches you and gets you thinking about others and how much more you really have. As well as to what you can truly loose in the blink of an eye.
Though this film was brief, it truly got me thinking about how grateful I am for what I have and I found myself holding tighter onto those I love. I have also caught myself realistically changing the thought of how small of an amount a simple dollar is and just how much it can be to another.
The supporting actress really helped add to each scene and made everything that much more in-depth. Mattson always seems to be going over the top.
The music as well aided in the transition between scenes. The music chosen was perfect to fit none other than what was set forth. It was as though the music was created purposefully for each part in the film in which it was played.
The picture quality was also something that truly stood out to me. The effects of the picture truly helped to set the mood as well as tone and made everything seem so realistic. Just as though I was there in person.
I can not wait for the next movie to come out by Mattson. You should definitely go see 'Lines' after you have enjoyed this film.

Eric Mattson directs another great short film with 'Gratitude.' His concept on this one is one that we all should be reminded of everyday. Thank you to Eric for telling this story and for doing it in such great fashion.
Though a very short film, Mattson is able to do a lot in a short time. Performance, story, location choice and sound are all able to thrive thanks to his direction, shot selection and editing choices.
Mattson helped produce, assistant direct and has a bit part in Derek Braasch's next feature film, 'Murder For Pleasure.' Check out the trailers for that I know I can't wait to see it!
