A grumble
wdstarr-129 December 2020
I see that not only are the producers by this point not even bothering to try to explain how people get into the SVU squadroom and surrounding hallways, elevators, etc., with guns to commit dramatic murders there, but also that this time they've shown us that about a dozen random women can just walk right in unimpeded and hold a silent protest there. Does anybody in the production office even remember that this is supposed to be the inside a police station?

Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the episode was unbearable with Griffin being such an annoying character. The second half was great with Benson playing a role to get the perp to confess. Stabler was adorable with all the "P.C." jokes. And that final scene lol

A very special special victims

This a fun, often uncomfortable and all over interesting episode. With a great performance as a lesbian activist by Kathy Griffiths; and many twists and surprises. Basically another winner of an episode!

Babs Duffy (Kathy Griffin) Show
yazguloner3 July 2021
A fierce lesbian, Babs Duffy, with her own unique personality, turns even Olivia and Elliot out of tune.

Especially their shootout with Elliot is amazing. Last scene, last minute goal and surprises... so sweet

A really fun and pleasant episode where you will laugh out loud.

A hot nineties drama has a Gilmore Girls vibe.

I applaud ... All.

Some reviewers here don't seem to get the jokes
ColonelPuntridge18 January 2021
Several reviewers complain that the story, and Kathy Griffiths' character, are annoying. Others complain that the story presents a tired stereotype of lesbians as loud, annoying, and aggressive. But this installment is a SATIRE. A joke about the stereotypes, based on exaggeration, not a serious portrayal. And it's quite a good satire.

Lesbi- Strong
bkoganbing16 December 2013
Someone is targeting lesbians and the SVU squad is called in on the case. A voice crying in the wilderness saying this is so is Kathy Griffin and she can't even make the police bias crimes unit believe it, she's cried wolf once too often. But a homicide of a woman outside a lesbian bar with a rape attached is what brings Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni assigned to the case.

Griffin's founded a self help organization called Lesbi-Strong, but as it turns out she's got some personal issues that might torpedo her efforts.

As for who is doing these crimes the SVU squad looks at one individual, but they get it right in the end. A prominent identifying mark gives our perpetrator away.

Kathy Griffin does a great job as a lesbian who checks out Hargitay pretty thoroughly. But the one to really remember is Sharon Harris a woman with some real anger management issues who as it turns out has a vulnerable side.

Definitely for LGBT fans of SVU and allies.

Didn't do it for me
TheLittleSongbird11 May 2022
While loving the early seasons of 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' and loving a good number of episodes from the more variable Seasons 7-12 period, there were a small handful of episodes in the early and mid seasons that have never done much for me and "P. C." is one of them. While understanding what it was trying to do, Kathy Griffin was hard to take on all three of my previous viewings of the episode and it felt both over the top and bland, not to mention the policing.

"P. C." still doesn't do it for me. So sad that the season went so quickly from one of its best episodes "Shadow" to one of its worst just one episode later. My negative criticisms still stand and being a supporter of LGBTQ rights seeing such an exaggerated and negative portrayal personally didn't sit right with me. Have read and heard that "P. C." was meant to be satire, hence the over-the-top-ness, fair enough but it didn't feel that way to me. Or to the many that didn't care about the episode.

There are good things. The production values are slick and have a subtle grit, with an intimacy to the photography without being too claustrophobic. The music isn't used too much and doesn't get too melodramatic. Did like some of the jokes, some were very funny and there was clearly fun delivering them.

Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay both give great performances, and do enjoy their chemistry. Sutton Foster and Kate Udall are very good too.

Griffin however didn't work for me, have never been a fan of hers and this episode did nothing to change my mind (if anything it reinforced why). Her character is an overbearing, over the top annoying stereotype and Griffin plays her much too broadly and exaggerates every negative characteristic of the character. It was like watching a stand up comedienne act poking fun and not seeing an activist fighting for a serious cause, one that is actually relatable and every bit as relevant now as it was back then. The stereotypical and heavy handed portrayal of the group didn't strike me as tasteful, the women coming over as bigoted cliches rather than real people. Especially apparent in Babs' male contempt exchanges with Stabler.

Some nice amusing jokes aside, the script is perfunctory at best and is quite talky. Also found Babs' on the patronising side and the mimicking of the LGBTQ philosophy was inaccurate and over-the-top negative. The story never really comes to life and is too over-shadowed by the character of Babs and the portrayal of the group that one forgets what it was about in the first place. There is a big twist that wasn't that shocking and it was impossible to look past the excessive incompetence and unprofessionalism of the SVU. The episode really lacks tension and suspense and the jokey tone the writing takes doesn't gel at all with the seriousness of the subject matter. Hate too that Fin and Cragen are so underused.

Overall, didn't work. 4/10.

Usually love SVU but this one was a stinker
ilovetobeyoung23 May 2019
This episode almost seemed to deliberately be taking the piss out of lesbian women and turning them all into a gross stereotype. Aside from that the acting sucked. Super disappointing.

Questionable guest stars
johnnyboygrant25 May 2021
SVU has to be a bit more discerning with their guest stars. Can't watch Griffin, her face & voice are too grating.

Very Unenjoyable
stratus_phere5 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Kathy Griffin made this show almost impossible to watch. She was as annoying in this character as she is in real life. She is no one you want to listen to, much less spend any time with.

As usual, she plays an extremely divisive character who wants to separate lesbians out of society and hold them in a subclass. She starts wailing about male oppression and other nonsense and you want to rip your ears off, it's so ridiculous.

The idea behind her character is that society at large somehow carries so much hatred for lesbians specifically (not gays or anyone else) that they go around murdering them. She ruined the entire episode with her rants and whacked up attitude. I've never seen her in a role where she plays a likable person, but I suppose that's her choice. She hates people, and relishes in roles that allow her to show that hatred. That's who she is.

Booo!

Kathy Griffin is awful

I've never been a fan, and rolled my eyes when she appeared on screen. Have to admit, I almost skipped the episode but continued bc I wanted to see how the story played out. She just gets on my very last nerve.

Satire? Not.
ecsar30 December 2022
It's really sad that this great show reduces itself to lows like this. Kathy Griffiths makes this episode virtually unwatchable. This episode is not satire. It's over the top awful. Ridiculous stereotypes. Really bad acting. Seriously terrible writing. Volume does not equal quality dialog. Overt forcing of an agenda does not equal quality programming. This episode did absolutely nothing to further the cause of the alphabet types. It also does nothing to promote the concept of the SVU being allies of the community. In short, it was really hard to tell who the biggest clowns were in this circus; the victims, the cops, or the criminals.

Ugh! She is awful.

I cannot stand Kathy Griffin. When I binge the series, I skip her episodes. She's annoying and grating. I dozed off and awoke in the middle of this episode. I chose to give it a go, I should have skipped.
