Hydroelectric power is a substantial contributor to the global energy supply but has some disadvantages, the limited number of rivers that can accommodate dams and estuaries that can accommodate tidal power stations are limited. But tidal flow occurs along coastlines around that world so companies are developing and beginning to field stand alone tidal turbines.—David Foss
