The Picnic Committee

Bud is picked to be the head of the committee for the school picnic.

An OK Bud episode, some amusing moments. He doesn't want the job at first, but once he gets into it, he likes the power. He starts getting a big head but the other members let him down when they don't get things done. It takes Jim to give him some good advice.

Bud Takes An Ego Trip

A more dramatic half-hour than most episodes. Nonetheless, it's a tribute to cast and crew that they still manage the usual light touches that keep the chuckles coming.

Poor Bud, he gets conscripted into being chairman of school picnic committee after others have dodged the responsibilities. Good thing Dad's there to give our guy needed advice. Still, given the opportunity, Bud shows growing ability at organizing that soon inflates his ego to an obnoxious extent, much to the family's concern. Chuckle-wise, Chapin (Kathy) again shows what a great imp she can be, as when Bud's ego inflates and she reacts.

But what if Bud's picnic plans should suddenly flop, will he lose even that needed measure of teen self-confidence as a result. Stay tuned.
