While The Late Bloomer comes to a bit too wrapped-up-in-a-bow resolution, it's still a refreshing reminder of just how pervasive sex is and how much it plays a role in everyone's lives.

Though Pollak's direction in his first narrative feature is solid, The Late Bloomer is mostly an excuse for predictable sex jokes and ample toplessness.
To make the premise of a 30-year-old who acts like a 15-year-old work, Mr. Pollak has made everyone else in the film act like a 15-year-old, too. It doesn’t quite click.
Stand-up comic, impressionist and actor Kevin Pollack steps behind the camera for The Late Bloomer, a sweet-spirited if slightly rude rom com masquerading as a sex comedy.
Lead actor Johnny Simmons fits his role perfectly, his baby face giving him the suitable appearance of an overgrown adolescent. But the smutty, tired material with which he has to work is surprisingly devoid of laughs.

Kevin Pollak's raunchy comedy The Late Bloomer is merely cheesy and horny, but rarely amusing.
