The black and white copies of this episode appear to be a bit "washed out" looking, possibly indicating that the B&W copy was duplicated from the color print, or, if three strip technicolor, only the B&W negative was used to print it. The negatives were originally owned by George's company, McCadden Productions, and syndicated by CBS. They were later sold, I believe, to Columbia Pictures (Screen Gems). CBS may have copies in their vaults, as they do with The Jack Benny Program.
When this episode was produced, CBS had lost the "color war" to RCA-NBC and agreed to use RCA's compatible color system. This episode was probably done as a test to see how the program would look in color.
