Stand-up star and occasional actor Vir Das has a clear-cut strategy when it comes to balancing his two flourishing careers.
"I have to balance both careers. Stand up (comedy) takes time, so when I act that should be an interesting role," said Vir, revealing the reason which kept him away from films in 2020.
As an actor, Vir is known for his work in Bollywood films such as "Delhi Belly", "Go Goa Gone", "Mastizaade" and "Badmaash Company". Last year, he also starred in the black comedy web series "Hasmuk".
"I think "Hasmukh" was an interesting thing to pursue because a film takes a long time. For me, it's about finding a good character and telling a good story," he said.

August 19, 2010: Yash Raj Films certainly has it’s own strange way of operating. When they wish, they promote a film to the fullest, case in point being ‘Badmaash Company’. On the other hand they sometimes choose to keep low even when they have a good film (Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year) and actor (Ranbir Kapoor) in hand. One doesn’t quite know as of now to which extreme does ‘Lafangey Parindey’ fits in but the fact remains that this Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone starrer is yet another instance of a Yash Raj film not being promoted optimally.
For a film.

Vir recently performed a stand-up show. While performing on stage, Vir got a rather unusual demand from a bunch of girls who were sitting and watching his show. They all wanted him to act out a line from his film in Chandu's character. Vir thought that it would be inappropriate, hence he resisted a bit. To his shock, the girls started to scream his character's name Chandu loudly so that he would say that one line from the film.
"Yes it was very sweet of the girls. They wanted me to say the Madhuri Dixit line which I think has...

Anushka Sharma is mixing it up all. While she started off with much senior Shah Rukh Khan in her debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she followed it up with a younger Shahid Kapoor very recently in Badmaash Company. Before the year comes to close, she would also be seen with Akshay Kumar in Patiala House. With seniors like Shah Rukh and Akshay around, has she gained any acting tips from them? "No, they don't tutor me but one has to make your own effort to learn. I am observant of...

Even as his first directorial venture, Badmaash Company, all set to become a clean hit, actor-writer and now successful director Parmeet Sethi has already moved on and it is once again for the premier production house, Yash Raj Films. We had heard that his first script was rejected by Yrf and so Parmeet had to furnish another script within a week, for the project today known as Badmaash Company. But instead of relying on what the grapevine had to say we decided to ask Parmeet....

Mumbai, May 23 – Stand-up comedian Vir Das, who is basking in the favourable reviews of his ‘Badmaash Company’, is now looking forward to ‘Delhi Belly’. And he says producer Aamir Khan didn’t make things easy for him as he had to undergo repeated auditions before being selected.
‘I auditioned nine times in one year. Then every week I’d read (in newspapers) some bigger Bollywood actor had bagged my role. So, by the time I got in the room with Aamir, I was on cloud nine. He’s nothing less than a genius,’ Vir told Ians.

Following protests by Tamilians outside his home, Pratiksha, Amitabh Bachchan, if rumours are to be believed, will not be flying to Colombo in June despite being Iifa's brand ambassador. Wizcraft, organiser of the event, however, continue to say that he will be there but Mani Ratnam, for sure, has pulled out his next, Raavan, that was supposed to be unveiled there. Salman Khan is on the star guest list but his "busy schedule" could give him an excuse to drop out of the event that South stars like Rajnikant and Kamal Haasan have already boycotted because of the venue. Amidst all these controversies, ex-Indian Idol contestant Meiyang Chang, who recently made his Bollywood debut in Badmaash Company, insists that he will be on the green carpet hosting the nomination special at Iifa. The dentist-turned-singer-turned-actor has bagged a soccer-based reality show for Espn. "My focus has shifted...

Vir Das has denied that he has sold out by appearing in a Bollywood film. The comedian, who recently starred in Badmaash Company, is well known for making fun of Bollywood stars in his stand-up act and some of his fans are now upset that he has decided to join the butts of his jokes on the big screen. "Those who have been watching me do stand-up comedy for years think I've sold out to Bollywood because I'm now working in the very system that I've been religiously mocking and demolishing on stage. But the fact of the matter is, I was, I am and I will continue to be a stand-up comedian and I will continue to make jokes on the Indian movie industry," (more)...

May 20, 2010: Vir Das’ much-delayed Aamir Khan production Delhi Belly with Imran Khan is finally going to release.
Das, basking in the favourable reviews of Badmaash Company, says Delhi Belly will be released in the first quarter of 2011, a fact that even director Abhinay Deol, now blissfully into his second directorial venture, Game, is not aware of.
Now that Vir Das is doing mainstream Hindi films he is unlikely to make those stinging savage stand-up jokes about Salman and other Bollywood biggies. This has not gone down with his fans. A lady has threatened to come after the stand-up comic virtuoso.

Our patrons will find it hard to find a connection between Yash Raj's latest release, Badmaash Company, and Aamir Khan's Abhinay Deo directed Delhi Belly. So, the success of Badmaash Company proving to be good for Delhi Belly will seem a far fetched idea to most! However, the truth is that the Parmeet Sethi directed Badmaash Company, starring the 'still' teenage heartthrob Shahid Kapoor and the Rab Ne... girl Anushka Sharma will prove to be beneficial for Delhi Belly in the lon...

Anupam Kher will be seen yet again with Shahid Kapoor in Mausam. Kher has been asked to join the unit in Edinburgh. The busy actor says, "I'm yet to get a clear indication of my role. But the fact that Pankaj is directing is enough incentive for me. I'm very fond of him as an actor and as a human being. And I also like his son Shahid a lot. In fact in his brief career, I've played Shahid's father thrice (in Sooraj Barjatya's Vivah, Dil Bole Hadippa and Badmaash Company)." This time, though, Anupam isn't playing Shahid's father. It is apparently the role that Pankaj Kapoor had earmarked for himself. Now with direction proving a full-time occupation, Pankaj would much rather concentrate on direction and let the others do the acting. However, the dates for Mausam are still being worked out. Anupam now flies out to...

May 19, 2010: The “I-don’t-give-a-damn" attitude of the 90’s is making a comeback. Badmaash Company, the movie starring Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, portrayed this comeback at its best.
It’s designerchas admitted referring to various movies of the 90’s starring Akshay Kumar, Srk, Madhuri Dixit etc to get the look right. In fact she went to the extent of checking out her uncle’s wardrobe to help her get the right look for the cast of Badmaash Company.
In Ameira’s opinion, people today are very free spirited and like to follow their own mind. Hence,.
