Katja has to take care for Theo Neumeister because his mother Friederike is now in the hospital (a case of meningitis). So Katja goes to the house of the Neumeister family and meets then Theo who tells her the story of the disappearance of hs sister Marie 6 years ago: each year Friederike and Theo celebrate her birthday with a birthday cake with candles, gifts and a letter of the mother for her daughter. When Katja asks about the father Theo doesn't answer. Little by little Katja understands the suffering of this family: besides she discovers that Theo can't bear anymore this situation (the suitcase in the underground) and she will speak with Friederike.
