- TriviaLong believed lost, Eric's son Gary Morecambe discovered a monochrome film copy of the episode in the attic of the family home in Harpenden, Hertfordshire amongst seven unlabelled cans. The edition has had the original colour restored to it via the chromadot process, and received a broadcast as part of BBC2's 2021 Christmas Day schedule.

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Excited in 2020 about news over a missing Morecambe & Wise episode being found, I made sure to catch Morecambe & Wise: The Lost Tapes (2021-also reviewed), whose lone highlight was clips of the missing episode, which were sadly given limited time in order for the focus to be largely on celebrities with nothing informative to say!
Learning that the episode was finally to be fully shown at Christmas, I got ready for Morecambe & Wise to bring sunshine.
Note:Review has some details of the sketches.
View on the episode:
Despite recently being given a prime time slot on BBC 1, Morecambe and Wise impressively show no sign of any nerves. From the hilarious opening moustache gag the duo reveal themselves to be perfectly in synch with each other, from Ernie's very funny sly winks in bed when talking about the newly married couple next door, to Eric displaying physical comedy skills when trapped on the stage.
Between the sketches, Patricia Lambert, Paul Anka and Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen bring a fitting touch of celeb glamour, with each of their music performances hitting the right note.
Joining Eric and Ernie's move to BBC 1, Eddie Braben continues to fill his scripts with winning zingers. Being the first episode where the duo shared a bed, Brabsen finely balances between cheekiness and innocence, as Eric tries to listen in on the newly married couple next door, much to Ernie's increased frustration, in a lost episode which can now bring sunshine.
