- Fi found herself in the oddly desirable location of the Bahamas, where she and Jesse were supposed to be identifying a dead body. The pair teamed up to pickpocket the local coroner's keys. Jesse slipped into the morgue to get the information he needed. It was a little more complicated than that, but you get the gist. He and Fiona sped away, first by car, then by boat and all was well with the world.
Jesse thought the dead guy matched the guy he'd been talking to earlier. The dead guy was Jeremiah Kassar. Sam had run some info to get the match and wanted a return favor in exchange. He wanted Michael to meet some friends who run a charity for families of soldiers who were killed in combat. The guy who ran the charity got caught up in an investment scam and Sam wanted Michael to help point them back in the right direction.
When Michael went to meet the guy, things were worse than he expected. Josh, the investor, tried to confront the scammers on his own and that just made everything worse.
Jesse and Fiona were having some trouble getting an address for Kassar, but managed to work their way around a neighboring single mom for the info. Meanwhile, Michael and Sam stumbled onto Josh holding alleged scammer Nick Madison, the "thieving bastard" who'd taken the charity's money, at gunpoint at a bank. The cops descended on the bank and Sam holed up with them inside.
Sam seemed to be OK with making it a full-fledged hostage situation, so he decided that he and Mike would support Josh. The cops called and Michael took the phone call, because first contact with the cops in a hostage situation is key. He pretended to be one of the hostages and that bought them some time. The lieutenant running the operation ordered his team to cut off air conditioning, Internet and communication from the building.
Michael and Sam began interrogating the two investment managers separately. Nick the investor offered up all the information on his computer. Nick's perfect books proved he was doing something wrong, but it couldn't be proved. Nick's partner mentioned another person in the operation, Tom Norris, who might know some information, so Michael hacked into a neighboring telephone line to get a call out to Fiona.
While she and Jesse were trying to get into Kassar's house, they were foiled by a neighbor. Meanwhile, Nick tried to pull a gun on Michael and company, and Michael quickly turned the tables on him, prompting Nick to tell them all of them would be going to jail.
As the hostage situation progressed, Sam and Michael pondered what their jail prospects were like. Michael thought they had some cards to play and he called the lieutenant on the situation. Pretending to be a hostage, Michael found out that the lieutenant knew Michael Westen was inside the bank (because his car was in the parking lot). Michael asked for an escape vehicle.
Out in Miami, Jesse and Fi caught up to Tom Norris, the scam artist. They brought him to the bank where the hostage situation was happening. He told Fi and Jesse that Nick had a cash safe instead the bank. Fi told Michael this, but Michael still needed Fi to create a diversion that would help him get out of the bank.
Meanwhile, Michael and Sam did some crafty explosive and demolition work to get the floor safe out of the floor, after which they just busted it open, revealing a bunch of cash and sending Nick and his partner into a bit of a battle. Mike and Sam broke it up, but the cops outside were ready to make a move into the bank. Michael told Fi he didn't know what he was going to do next.
Mike reminded Sam about a situation in Lima where the hostage takers at a bank pretended to have been the hostages and got out scot-free. Sam reminded Michael that it was a different situation in Lima, and there was till debate over whether or not that Lima deal had actually happened.
"Mike, you know that story's just a myth," Sam said. "Nobody believes they pulled it off."
"Then I guess we'll be the first," Michael said.
Sam went to Patty, Nick's partner, and asked her to turn on Nick. She said she hated him. but she thought that Josh, Sam and Michael should all go to jail. Josh then said that if anyone deserved to be pointed out as the bad guy, it was him.
Michael then set Nick up to let him take Michael's gun and created a tense standoff in which he dared Nick to pull the trigger. Nick did just that, but the gun was empty and the cops burst in and arrested Nick.
All Michael and Sam could do was wait and hope Patty would tell the cops that Nick took her and everyone else hostage. She did, and Nick was taken away.
Michael and Jesse broke into Kassar's apartment, which was spotless and had no clues for them. MIchael went to talk to Kassar's nosy neighbor. She said she knew nothing, but Michael and Jesse quickly realized she seemed to have a bit too much to hide. They figured out the neighbor had killed Kassar and was staying at the place next door to look out for anyone who was looking for him. They went back to get her, but she'd punched a hole in a wall and then ran away.
She fled, but Michael looked inside the wall and found a tape that was hidden.
