No doubt cinematography experts could find plenty to criticise in this film, but I can't remember when I was last so engrossed and moved by a production.
Nick Darke, the subject of this film, wrote very thoughtful and funny plays. Did knowing his work alter my appreciation of this tender portrayal of his illness and death? I doubt it. But, just as Kneehigh Theatre are able to conjure up his fantasy worlds with the minimum of props, this simple, unsophisticated production demonstrates that you don't need a huge budget to tell a powerful story.
At which point I have said enough so you will discard my thoughts due a silly, arbitrary number of lines rule!
