Roy Dotrice, who played Leopold Mozart in Best Picture Oscar winner Amadeus and won a Tony Award for Best Actor in A Moon for the Misbegotten, died today in London. He was 94. His family confirmed the news in a statement. A chameleon-like character actor, Dotrice launched his 55-year career with roles in such TV dramas as Escape and Treasure Island in the late 1950s and in 1965 co-starred as King Edward IV in the BBC’s Royal Shakespeare Company miniseries The War of the Ro…...

Exclusive: Im Global fully financing and introducing to Cannes buyers.
Two-time Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen will star in the thriller Unabomb for The Trouble With The Curve director Robert Lorenz.
Im Global is fully financing the project and lining up additional cast for a January 2018 production start.
Lorenz is producing Unabomb with Michele Weisler and Im Global’s president of feature film production Greg Shapiro.
Unabomb centres on one of the largest manhunts in history as FBI agent Jim Freeman, played by Mortensen, takes on the unsolved case of the Unabomber, who terrorised Americans with 16 bombings over the course of two decades.
Freeman and his unconventional team travel the country piecing together a profile of the infamous hooded suspect.
However the closer they get to narrowing down the terrorist’s identity, the more deadly and personal the attacks become. Randy Brown adapted the screenplay from the book Unabomber by Jim Freeman, Terry Turchie and Donald...

Some fine original works are going even further out of style.
Remakes, they tell us, do no harm to the original works. The first movie will always be there for us to enjoy. I admit, I’m one of “they,” constantly defending the idea, particularly when the new version has something fresh to say while using an old framework. Fright Night recycled a horror classic and set it in the context of the housing crisis. The RoboCop redo takes on the issue of drones. But both of these performed poorly in all regards compared to their predecessors, and that was fine. Diehard fans of the originals just went on being diehard fans of the originals, no problem.
There are surely fans of the 1979 caper Going in Style but not on the same level. Despite receiving positive reviews and being a modest box office hit, the movie hadn’t had much of a legacy until Warner Bros. announced...

Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine and a good chunk of Ipswich Town Football Club? It can only be Escape To Victory...
These are strange days indeed for fans of the beautiful game - never before has unbridled hope been so freely mixed with jaded cynicism in the sport we love. The result? A jarring draught indeed, a football concoction that is dizzyingly exhilarating yet morosely taxing, much like the homemade ‘bathroom cocktails’ that my sister used to dare me to drink as a child, odd-tasting brews made from shaving foam and perfume that put hairs on my seven-year old chest whilst presumably lopping years off my life.
That paradoxical blend of fair and foul will be familiar to anybody that follows football these days. International minnows Wales have been running roughshod over half of Europe, and Leicester’s unstoppable charge to the Premiership title against all five thousand...

The worlds of football and cinema frequently collide, and judging by the number of great sportsmen who've tried their hand at acting, it's clear that Hollywood holds a strong allure for the professional athlete.
With the 2014 FIFA World Cup about to get underway, Digital Spy takes a look at a handful of actors who've made it to the big screen.
1. Pelé (Escape to Victory)
Arguably the greatest footballer of all time, Pelé lined up alongside fellow icons Bobby More and Ossie Ardiles (and a host of Ipswich Town greats!) in this inspiring blend of Great Escape-style war flick and underdog sports story.
A firm Bank Holiday favourite, Escape to Victory also boasts a starting eleven containing Michael Caine and Sylvester Stallone. They don't make them like this anymore.
2. Vinnie Jones (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels)
After retiring from the beautiful game, Wimbledon hardman Vinnie Jones established a second career for himself.

This Is The End doesn't have the monopoly on actors playing themselves in movies. Just check this lot out...
Last week saw the UK release of This Is The End, in which members of Judd Apatow's comedy troupe wind up trapped in James Franco's house, post-Rapture. Most of the world's population has been Raptured into the next life, or otherwise fallen into a great big hole in Franco's lawn.
The film is adapted from a 2007 sketch called Jay & Seth Vs The Apocalypse, which featured Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen squabbling with each other in a living room. Both reprise their roles here, as exaggerated versions of themselves. You know how Rogen is often criticised for playing himself in movies? Well, he literally plays himself in this one, to a certain degree. Elsewhere, Michael Cera plays a drug-addled dickhole, Emma Watson is a...

We delve back into more than a century of A Christmas Carol movies to find the best and worst adaptations of Dickens' festive tale...
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the classic story of a time travelling pensioner who sees dead people, is a festive fairytale which has itself become part of Christmas folklore. In terms of favourite Christmas tales, Rudolph and Frosty may wrap up the children's vote, but for most people, it's Dickens’ seminal work which would get the nod.
The story was written by Dickens in order to tackle the relatively new issue of urban poverty, and in particular the growing underclass of impoverished townsfolk produced by the Industrial Revolution. With the rapid shift away from conventional farming and trade practices, and with the rise in new technological advancements, many people were suddenly without work and without the necessary skills to find a job.
