La Bella Napoli
People stroll from left to right and from right to left by the port. In the distance, Mt. Vesuvius looms.
One of the problems with films of this age is that the film stock was orthochromatic, sensitive to only blue and green light. This meant that the sky was an undifferentiated shade whether there were clouds in it or not. Vesvius, as a result, looks like an ordinary mountain. It would not be for another decade that panchromatic stock -- film sensitive to all visible light -- would become available for still photography and as movie stock, it would have to wait until the 1920s.
As a result, this movie lacks a lot of drama that a tourist would see.
