Lily Riley, who plays Sylvia Orman, is a resilient power-lifter and cancer survivor. As one of the strongest women in Australia, she squats 272.5kg (600lbs), deadlifts 235kg (518lbs), and benches 120kg (265lbs).
Mei Ichinose, who plays Yui Takahashi, is an actual Japanese Paralympic Swimmer, who competed in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Mei specialises in the women's 200 metre individual medley with a SM9 classification.
Hiring mostly professional athletes meant that the main cast did all their own stunts and sporting sequences. This proved quite a challenge at times, as the track athletes were really racing Australia's fastest woman, Riley Day, in the National 200 meter sequence.
Jane Larkin and her father, Todd Larkin, choreographed the dance sequence themselves. Todd Larkin is an established entertainer who has performed at the Sydney Opera House.
