- Now free, Sookie must decide between Eric and Bill. It's not an easy decision and she soon realizes that her turmoils are not yet over when someone comes gunning for her. Having taken over Lafayette's body, Marnie is intent on seeking revenge. She also wants additional powers however and knows exactly where to get them. Sookie has to save Bill and Eric from her but gets help from an unexpected source. Jason meanwhile decides it's time to tell Hoyt about sleeping with Jessica. Hoyt doesn't take it too well. Jason and Jessica however come to an understanding about their relationship. Andy Bellefleur tries to make amends about his recent strange behavior and Arlene gets a visit from the last person she wanted to see.—garykmcd
- Jesus and Lafayette have breakfast on the porch. Jesus clearly doesn't know that Marnie is inside of his boyfriend. Jesus talks about various things while Marnie/Lafayette listens. At one point Jesus tells him to eat the breakfast he made and Lafayette/Marnie picks up the fork. Jesus kisses him goodbye and noticed that he doesn't respond. He leans back puzzled. Jesus looks into his eyes and says his name at which Lafayette/Marnie shakes his head, before stabbing Jesus in the hand.
While in the kitchen Sookie sees Gran's body on the floor. Tara comes in and Sookie says she's wondering whether Gran is in heaven based on Marnie channeling her.
Maxine comes to Tommy's grave and talks to Sam. She says a few positive things before absent-mindedly noting some of his faults. She offers to bring Sam some food, saying that Tommy was a son to her. She asks Sam to call her "Momma" from now on. Maxine leaves and Luna shows up with Emma.
Jason goes to see Hoyt at a job site. After asking him to put down his chainsaw Jason tells him that he had sex with Jessica. Once Hoyt realizes that Jason is serious he punches him in the face. Hoyt says Jason broke a code and punches Jason again, followed by a kick to the stomach. Hoyt says there is "something inside you that's missing" and leaves Jason lying on the ground.
A tied-up Jesus tries to speak to Lafayette and get him to fight. Marnie laughs and tells Jesus that Lafayette is "no Antonia." Jesus points out that all Marnie wanted was power. This angers Marnie which leads to Lafayette making a brief appearance. Jesus asks Marnie what she wants. She tells Jesus "I want your magic. All of it."
It's Halloween. At Merlotte's Sookie asks Arlene about Sam and hears her think" "Nobody's told her yet."
Sookie goes back to comfort Sam about Tommy. He decides not to tell her a skin-walking Tommy was who actually fired her, instead just giving Sookie her job back.
Jesus tells Marnie she needs to let go of Lafayette before she gets him killed. He tells he'd gladly give her his magic but doesn't know how. When Marnie suggests that Jesus is afraid he agrees, saying what is inside him "is seriously dark." Marnie threatens to hurt Lafayette's body and Jesus begins to chant. Jesus' devil's head appears, at which point Marnie stabs him deep in the chest. Jesus says "Lafayette, I'm sorry," at which point the devil's head appears on Lafayette/Marnie.
Sam brings Emma to work and introduces her to Arlene's kids. A man walks into Merlotte's asking for "Private Bellefleur." It's Marine Sergeant Patrick Devins (Scott Foley). Terry introduces him to Arlene and Devins makes reference to Terry having saved his life on two occasions. Alcide drops by and tells Sookie he's no longer mad at her and has broken up with Debbie. Alcide wonders if she could ever love him, asking her to avoid the drama of Bill and Eric. Alcide gets a phone call and has to leave.
Tara drops by to see Lafayette and Jesus and finds Jesus' body.
Holly (who is dressed as a fairy) tells Sookie that Halloween makes her jumpy since it's the day the living and the dead are closest. She tells Sookie she's had the same weird feeling all day just as Tara pulls up and tells them Marnie is back and inside of Lafayette.
The three women go to Bill's place and find Bill and Eric are chained together in silver, surrounded by dead guards and looking ready to be burned. Marnie/Lafayette walks up and tells them "what goes around comes around." Marnie summons a huge fire just as Holly surrounds the area with salt. Using her fairy power, Sookie blasts Marnie to the ground and she sits up with the devil head. Holly, Sookie and Tara begin chanting about friends and family helping them and Marnie is unable to walk inside the circle. Spirits begin appearing from the cemetery as Eric and Bill burn. Antonia shows up and blows out the fire, saying she is there to "take you home." Gran appears and reaches inside Lafayette, pulling out Marnie. Marnie tells Antonia she's isn't ready to go. Antonia convinces her that life is pain and vampires like Bill and Eric will never have the peace of death. Antonia and Gran lead Marnie away. Sookie tells Gran she's lost without her and Gran convinces her that the answers are in her heart and "we're all alone at the end."
Behind Merlotte's Arlene runs into Rene (Michael Raymond-James). He says he's there to warn her the ghosts of Terry's past aren't going to rest forever and advises her to run.
Jessica shows up at Jason's place. He tells her he told Hoyt. She's wearing lingerie and asks Jason to invite her in. Cut to them having sex and Jessica telling him she doesn't want to be in a serious relationship. She says she doesn't want to hurt him the way she did Hoyt and asks if a purely sexual relationship can be enough for him.
Pam storms into Fangtasia looking for Eric. She's furious and hurt that Sookie seems to be taking Eric away from her.
Tara tries to convince a despondent Lafayette that he wasn't the one who killed Jesus.
Both Eric and Bill feed on Sookie to get their strength back. They thank her for saving their lives. She stands up and says she feels like she's being ripped in half. Bill says he wants her to be happy, even if that means being Eric. Sookie forgives Bill and says she hopes he'll forgive her. She then breaks up with both of them, saying "this is the hardest decision I've ever had to make." She leaves in tears and breaks down on the porch.
In the middle of the night Lafayette sees Jesus' spirit in his room. Jesus tells him "don't worry about it, everything's temporary." Jesus tells him to "keep breathing. It's that simple." He leaves and Lafayette weeps.
Andy tracks down Holly by her car. He apologizes for how he acted on their date and fesses up to being an addict. They seem to agree to be friends.
Sam and Luna kiss on the porch. They both seem excited by the future, with Luna paranoid about jinxing the good thing they have going. She drives away and Sam turns around to see a snarling wolf.
After sex Jason asks her if she thinks something is missing from him. Jessica tells him she's leaving because she's hungry and doesn't want to feed from him. Jason seems cool with it, saying "it's kind of like a hooker with kissing." She leaves and there is knock on the door. It's Reverend Newlin, who says' "trick or treat" before revealing that he has vampire fangs.
At a job site one of Alcide's employees who has clearly been glamoured shows him that someone has dug a huge hole in the parking garage. Alcide reaches down and picks up a silver chain.
Nan arrives at Bill's place. Eric is also there. They tell her the Marnie situation has been resolved. She tells them she's quit both the AVL and the Authority. She says one of her last jobs was supposed to be to give them both the true death but she now wants them to join her in a mutiny. She tells them that joining her is the best for them to survive the night, as well as save Sookie. They tell her that she belongs to neither of them and Nan thinks they are bluffing. In a split second Eric kills her guards, distracting long enough for Bill to stake her.
Sookie goes home and calls out for Tara. She turns to find Debbie pointing a shotgun at her, saying "I should have done this a long time ago." Tara arrives and pushes Sookie out of the way just as Debbie fires. The blast seems to catch Tara near the head. Sookie jumps on top of Debbie, taking the gun from her and shooting her in the head.
Sookie rushes over to Tara who has been shot in the head. She cradles her motionless friend and screams out for someone to help them as the season ends.
