Poppy Harlow is leaving CNN after 16 years on the news network. Her latest role was as one of the anchors of CNN This Morning, which has been cancelled.
The show debuted in November of 2022, hosted by Harlow, Don Lemon, and Kaitlan Collins (above). Lemon was fired from CNN in May 2023, and Collins left to host The Source. CNN tried rotating anchors for a while and ultimately chose Phil Mattingly as Harlow's permanent co-anchor.
CNN This Morning was cancelled in February of this year and was replaced by CNN News Central. Per Vanity Fair, Harlow was given another role with the network but decided to leave instead.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois) said he would vote for President Joe Biden “in a heartbeat” if he were to face former President Donald Trump in a rematch this year.
As one of Trump’s most vocal conservative critics, Kinzinger’s decision underscored his commitment to principles that transcend party lines, even as he remains a member of the Republican Party despite Trump’s influence.
Kinzinger had previously expressed support for former Gov. Chris Christie (R-New Jersey) in the Republican primary and commended him for his honesty and commitment to truth. However, as Christie has suspended his campaign, Kinzinger’s allegiance has shifted.
In an appearance on The Source, Kinzinger was asked about his plans for the future.
Kinzinger responded, “Nothing.” He continued, “Look, I think it’s highly likely that it’s gonna be Biden against Trump. And in that case, there is no question who I would support.

Author Raquel Cepeda once said, "The role of hip-hop journalists is to document hip-hop with integrity." Fifty years ago, that esteemed role did not yet exist, for the culture was too young and too niche to find its way into literary archives and journalistic coverage. But seeing how far hip-hop has come, times have changed, and so have the rules for those documenting it - namely, us women.
The role of women hip-hop journalists, unfortunately by today's standards, is not just to report on the culture earnestly. Thanks to sexism, patriarchy, and misogyny, we don't get that luxury. Our skills and knowledge are always under a microscope in this "boys' club," as we've oftentimes been seen as the ill-informed who stumbled our way into this space and not as the revered who helped build, refine, and make it better; as those who've made it safer to tell ours and others' stories.

Jesse Watters’ debut as the permanent occupant of Fox News’ 8 p.m. hour gave the network a boost in the timeslot, versus the series of replacement hosts who have filled the time period since the cancellation of Tucker Carlson’s show.
Jesse Watters Primetime averaged 2.47 million viewers during the hour. That compares to the 1.66 million that Fox News Tonight averaged in June.
Still, Watters’ audience was less than the 3.1 million viewers that Carlson averaged in the time period last July. The network is obviously aiming for Watters’ audience to grow, as Carlson’s did after he replaced Bill O’Reilly in 2017.
Watters on Monday beat cable news rivals, including an MSNBC Joe Scarborough special, which averaged 1.29 million, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, which averaged 686,000.
In the adults 25-54 demo, Watters averaged 161,000 viewers, compared to 139,000 for MSNBC’s Scarborough and 120,000 for CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360.

After Sen. Tommy Tuberville said Monday night on CNN that white nationalism is not racist and that “most white people” in the military actually are white nationalists, the hosts of “The View” were stunned on Tuesday morning.
For host Sunny Hostin, Tuberville’s words make him nothing more than “an example” of his state’s “very, very low education rate.”
Tuberville’s comments came as part of the first episode of Kaitlan Collins’ new CNN primetime show “The Source,” when she pushed him on comments he made in May on a radio show where he refused to condemn white nationalists. When she asked him outright whether white nationalists shouldn’t be serving in the military, Tuberville said, “If people think that a white nationalist is a racist, I agree with that, I agree they shouldn’t.”
When Collins gave Tuberville the definition of a white nationalist, informing that all white nationalists are racists,...

Kaitlan Collins will officially launch as the network’s 9 p.m. Et host on Monday with a one-hour program named The Source.
Collins already has been anchoring CNN Primetime, the show that has filled the time period since Chris Cuomo was fired in December, 2021. Collins, the former chief White House correspondent and later co-host of CNN This Morning, was announced as the permanent host in May. The network kept those plans in place after the departure of Chris Licht as chairman and CEO. A leadership team is filling his position in the interim.
The show’s time slot is one of the most competitive in cable news, with Hannity on Fox News and The Rachel Maddow Show and Alex Wagner Tonight on MSNBC. CNN Primetime averaged 548,000 viewers in the most recent quarter, according to Nielsen.

CNN may have cleared its schedule of “Reliable Sources,” but it is making lots of room for “The Source.”
The new program, which will be based in New York and is slated to debut Monday, July 10, at 9 p.m. eastern, is a new hour built around up-and-coming anchor Kaitlan Collins, who has, in the space of just a few years, vaulted from White House correspondent to morning co-anchor to primetime personality. Collins has been leading CNN’s 9 p.m. hour over the past few weeks, but under a catch-all rubric of “CNN Primetime,” which also encompassed town-hall specials and deep-dive interviews with newsmakers led by others.

Many of us were stunned and filled with emotions when we learned that our beloved Daddy Yankee had announced his retirement. Tidal's Senior Director of Latin Global, Jesús Triviño, refers to him as "the unquestioned Goat of reggaeton" and even penned a piece about Daddy Yankee and his role in bringing the genre to the mainstream. Triviño doesn't take this retirement lightly. In fact, in many ways, it's a full circle moment for him. He's interviewed the Puerto Rican artists probably more times than he can count. And it's because of journalists like him that Yankee started receiving English-language press relatively early in his rise to fame.
While Yankee's career technically started in the mid-'90s, it was in 2004 that he began to gain recognition on a global scale and all thanks to his megahit song "Gasolina," off of his "Barrio Fino" album produced by Luny Tunes. But it...

When Drake stepped onstage to give his acceptance speech for the BMI Songwriter of the Year Award in 2011, one of the names he shouted out — along with his mom, Kanye West, and Andre 3000 — belonged to Phonte. BlackKklansman filmmaker Spike Lee has jumped on board as director of the hip-hop love story ‘Prince of Cats’.
The story is based on the graphic novel by Ron Wimberly and is set in “Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn” in the 1980s, the story is essentially a spin on ‘Romeo and Juliet’ as seen through the eyes of Tybalt, Juliet’s duel-loving cousin. Tybalt and his Capulet brothers navigate this world where underground sword dueling runs amuck.
The film centres on Tybalt and his Capulet brothers, who navigate Da People’s Republic of Brooklyn, where underground sword duelling — including katanas — with the rival Montagues blossoms into a vibrant world. That world includes hip-hop essentials such as DJing, emceeing, breakdancing and graffiti.
Lee will also rewrite the script and work with Wimberly and scribe Selwyn Seyfu Hinds to finalise the screenplay.

That wasn't a finale?!
Blood rain, human sacrifices, major character deaths, and a zombie apocalypse were only a fraction of the crazy twists Charmed (2018) Season 1 Episode 21 brought to the table.
Color me mystified over how they could top things in the finale.
So much happened in "Red Rain," it's hard to figure out where to even begin -- it was a wild ride with a ton of information.
Sweeps month is always going to bring a decent amount of chaos to a series. Shows will often use recaps of exposition to remind viewers about what’s happening.

However, you have to make certain major plot points are threaded consistently throughout the season, so your story holds together. Otherwise, you risk losing your audience.

The Battle of Winterfell may be upon us, but Charmed (2018) Season 1 Episode 19 was all about the battle for the Source; delivering just as much murder, melodrama and mischief as Game Of Thrones ever could.
I’ve never been so impressed by an episode of this show. Charmed (2018) may have steadily increased in quality over the second half of it’s season, but this is the first time it felt like watching an installment of the original.
“Power of Four” had everything-- major character deaths, lies and deceit, heart-wrenching breakups and heartfelt reunions.
There is no better way to ramp up towards a finale.
Charmed (2018) has had an issue moving the plot forward. Too much happens at once, and important story points tend to get steamrolled by lesser imperative weekly arcs.
Now that we’re nearing the finale, the “monster of the week” theme has been tossed aside, and all the...

TF1, France’s top commercial network, is joining forces with Netflix for the first time to co-finance “Le Bazar de la Charité,” a high-profile period series inspired by a real-life tragedy and written by Catherine Ramberg (“The Source”) and Karine Spreuzkouski.
Co-produced by Quad Télévision and TF1, the eight-part series unfolds in Paris in November 1897 and revolves around the consequences of a devastating fire which destroyed the building known as the Bazar de la Charité, where a large charity event was taking place. The fire caused more than 130 deaths, mainly high-society women and their entourages.
The series, which is being directed by Alexandre Laurent (“La Mante”), follows the romantic journey of three women, Adrienne De Lenverpre, Alice De Jeansin and her maid, Rose Rivière, who see their destinies turned upside-down from identity theft, forbidden love, betrayal and emancipation.

The “Stranger Things” kids are done playing board games in the basement.
From the new trailer for season three, which Netflix just dropped, and The Who song “Baba O’Riley” blasting throughout, it would appear that the gang of Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin and co. are about to experience their “teenage wasteland.”
The trailer opens with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max (Sadie Sink) and Will (Noah Schnapp) throwing a surprise party for Dustin’s (Gaten Matarazzo) return home. However, the surprise turns hilariously sour when they jump out from behind a wall, and Dustin’s reflexes don’t react well to the shock. It’s hard to blame him after all he and his friends have been through.

The long wait for Stranger Things Season 3 will extend well into the summer months.
Netflix confirmed late on Monday that the sci-fi drama will return to the air Thursday, July 4.
The streamer unveiled a teaser that shows Dick Clark's countdown to midnight taking a turn for the, well, upside down.
A poster for the upcoming season has also been released, and it shows half of the leading kids staring at fireworks and the other three distracted by something else entirely.
Oh yes, the series looks set to get crazier than ever.
Despite skipping 2018 entirely, the news has been coming in fast and furiously about the new season.

The third season of “Stranger Things” will launch on Netflix July 4, 2019.
The streamer made the announcement via a clip that was designed to look like the local Hawkins, Ind. television affiliate. First, Dick Clark appeared during “live” footage of his 1985 “Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” special, but as the camera panned to the crowd, the image was interrupted by some static and crypto code.
“Run Program: SilverCatFeeds.exe” was typed into the system, and the picture switched back to the live apple drop with the final few seconds of the countdown, only the picture began to rotate. It never fully reached an upside down image, instead dissolving into the fiery red of the show’s “Upside Down” before showing the test pattern and premiere date information.
A new tagline for the season says “One summer can change everything,” and the streamer warns that “something strange arrives in Hawkins, summer 1985.”

Lawyers for accused Nxivm sex-slave cult leader and former Smallville star Allison Mack are arguing that she isn’t guilty of inducing forced labor if the Church of Scientology isn’t guilty of the same charge.
In court papers filed yesterday in Brooklyn Federal Court, Mack’s lawyers argued that Mack’s threat to release naked photos and disparaging statements made by cult members against their relatives doesn’t rise to the threat of “serious harm” required to prove someone engaged in forced labor.
Mack and Nxivm leader Keith Raniere are accused of using the photos and statements to get free work and to force sex with Raniere.
“The government argues that Ms. Mack obtained forced labor through ‘threats of serious harm,’ with serious harm being the embarrassment that would result from the exposure of one’s collateral,” the court filing said. “Courts have found, however, that such an outcome,...

Per tradition, Netflix is introducing the upcoming new season of “Stranger Things” with an official teaser that hides any new footage, but reveals each episode title in the show’s next run. “Stranger Things 3” will run eight episodes, the same length as the first season (the second season had an additional episode and received minor criticisms for stretching the story too thin).
“Stranger Things 3” will once again bring back the main cast: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Joe Keery. Stranger Things is kicking off its Season 3 mystery early by revealing the (potentially spoiler-y?) titles of its upcoming episodes, some more ominous than others. Netflix on Sunday posted a video with all eight titles, underscored by the chill-inducing theme song. And those titles are…

3. “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard”
4. “The Sauna Test”
5. “The Source”
6. “The Birthday”

8. “The Battle of Starcourt”
We still don’t know much about Stranger Things‘ upcoming third season, aside from it being set in the summer of 1985 and largely taking place at the mall, making these titles all the more intriguing.

Get for another trip into the upside down. Netflix released a teaser trailer for the third season Stranger Things (aka Stranger Things 3) that gives a sneak peek the titles of the 8 episodes which will debut 2019.
The titles tell us absolutely nothing, but something tells me that diehard fans of the ’80s-tinged show will dig deep and find meaning with each title revealed in the trailer. Backed by the trademark synth intro music, the titles teased were: “Suzie, Do You Copy?”, “The Mall Rats”, “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard”, “The Sauna Test”, “The Source”, “The Birthday”, “The Bite”, and “The Battle of Starcourt”. The trailer ends with: “In the summer of 1985, the adventure continues…”
Again, it tells us nothing, but it certainly ignites some Demogorgon-level excitement.

Exclusive: Legendary has just won an auction for feature rights to Prince of Cats, the graphic novel written by Ron Wimberly that will be developed as a star vehicle for Lakeith Stanfield, who just starred in Sorry To Bother You and Get Out. The graphic novel was originally published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint and now published by Image Comics. Janet and Kate Zucker of Zucker Productions are producing.
Selwyn Sefyu Hinds is attached to adapt. The graphic novel is described as ‘80s hip-hop retelling of Shakespeare’s timeless classic Romeo & Juliet– only this time, we follow Tybalt’s perspective as he and his Capulet crew navigate a violent Brooklyn where underground sword dueling with the Montagues blossoms alongside a vibrant music scene.

★★☆☆☆ A nondescript North African mountain village, serves us the setting for French director Radu Mihaileanu's re-imagining of Aristophanes' Lysistrata as a comedy drama about a group of Muslim women rebelling against their patriarchal social system in The Source (La source des femmes, 2011). Aristophanes' comedy saw the women of ancient Greece uniting to end the Peloponnesian War by refusing to take their men into their beds until peace was agreed and this is the same strategy employed by the woman of this village.

All the latest news, reviews, comment and buzz from the Croisette, as it happens
.
It's 10.00am: on 11 May 2011 which means that the 64th Cannes film festival has just kicked off. Right this minute, the world's film press are huddled in the Palais du cinema as the opening credits roll on the first press screening of the opening night film, Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. And in about 90 minutes, we'll know the verdict: is it a new Manhattan or another Curse of the Jade Scorpion? Will this year's fest have been launched with a bang or a whimper?
We'll be bringing you all the news, reviews and reaction from the Croisette, as it happens, right through the festival. My colleague Ian and I will be drawing coverage together in London; we'll be getting regular updates from the team on the ground: Peter Bradshaw, Xan Brooks, Andrew Pulver, Charlotte Higgins, Jason Solomons,...

As has become the story in recent years, familiar Cannes-family names grace the line-up of the official competition of the 64th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
A dozen of the nineteen films announced are alumni of the festival: Almodovar, Bonello, Cavalier, Ceylan, the Dardenne brothers, Kaurismaki, Kawase, Malick, Moretti, Ramsay, Sorrentino and von Trier all returning to premiere their art, and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne taking a shot at a third Palme d’Or. Add Japan’s Takashi Miike to the mix, and the Danish director of the much-heralded “Pusher” franchise, Nicolas Winding Refn, very few slots can be identified as festival discoveries.
While this trend continues to disappoint people looking to Cannes Official Competition to break ground (two first time filmmakers are included in the line-up), it has also forced journalists to find inspiration in the Un Certain Regard section of the fest. With Sean Durkin’s Sundance...
