When the gang first arrive at the beach, teenage Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, from The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show (1971) can be seen in the background.
Despite being listed as the 4th episode in the series, with an original air-date of August 2nd, 2010, one week after "Secret of the Ghost Rig", there is evidence to suggest that Revenge of the Man Crab was meant to be the third episode, and the first episode that introduces Skipper Shelton. In Ghost Rig, the kids drive to the beach in order to visit the Clam Cabin, where Skipper Shelton declares that he is closed, due to lack of a door knob. He explicitly mentions the loss of his nose to a clam, yet in the next aired episode, Revenge of the Man Crab, Velma acts as if she has never associated with him, and she also doesn't seem to know the reason for his disfigurement. The viewers also get a much more formal and detailed introduction to Skipper Sheldon than in Ghost Rig. In addition, in Ghost Rig, the letter from Mr. E. has Shaggy commenting that the last time that they received a note from Mr. E, he said that they were doomed, however, the last time was in Episode 2, when the note merely mentioned that there was a puzzle to be solved. The note from Episode 4, Man Crab, doesn't mentioned them being doomed, either, but does mention 4 other teens going missing. In the end, watching the Man Crab episode before Ghost Rig doesn't break the continuity of the series, but does bolster it.
