Florence + The Machine have announced a special performance of their debut album, Lungs, in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Entitled “Symphony of Lungs,” the concert is set to go down on September 11th at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms classical music festival. It will be aired live on BBC Radio 3.
The concert will see Florence Welch perform the album in full with backing from Jules Buckley and his Orchestra. In addition to its live airing, the performance will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer.

A total of 36 out of 40 Indiana Fever games will be played on nationally-available channels and streaming services this WNBA season.
There’s no sense in denying that Caitlin Clark is a powerful draw for basketball fans. The 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament national championship game featuring Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks drew 18.9 million viewers, over 4 million more than watched the Men’s title game. Clark is virtually guaranteed to be the first overall pick in Monday’s WNBA draft, meaning she’ll join the Indiana Fever. WNBA schedule makers are not ignoring the opportunity, and have announced that the Fever will play 36 of their 40 total games on nationally-broadcast channels and streaming services.
ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 and Ion will each get eight Fever games, the most of any provider. Prime Video will stream four Fever games exclusively in 2024, in addition to the Commissioner’s Cup championship.

An Elvis Presley tribute album could feel incomplete without a cover of “Suspicious Minds.” Regardless, Glenn Danzig declined to record the track for his album Danzig Sings Elvis. The rocker explained why he did that and how Elvis changed his life.
Glenn Danzig didn’t cover Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicions Minds’ because he followed his gut
Danzig released Danzig Sings Elvis in 2020. Danzig Sings Elvis includes covers of a few famous songs, such as “Fever” and “Always on My Mind.” Despite this, most of the tracks on the album are obscure. Danzig was asked why he steered clear of...

A true retrospective performance, the career-spanning setlist touched on all eras of Madonna’s career and featured numerous songs that hadn’t been performed in decades. The show opened with only the second performance ever of “N0thing Really Matters” from Ray of Light. A few songs later, she dusted off “Live to Tell” from True Blue for the first time since 2006.
Songs like “Justify My Love,” “Bad Girl,” and “Rain” were performed for the first time sine 1993, while “Bedtime Story” was dusted off for the first time since 1995. Other noteworthy performances included “Like A Prayer,” in which she was accompanied by topless dancers, an acoustic cover of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” and “Like a Virgin,” which was interpolated elements of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”

Todd Haynes is still desperate to make his Peggy Lee biopic 'Fever'.The 62-year-old director had been set to make a movie that featured Michelle Williams as the legendary singer before the project was scrapped last year for financial reasons, although he is refusing to give up hope that it will eventually come to the big screen.Todd told IndieWire at the New York Film Festival: "When it couldn't happen – when we thought it could happen and it was close to pre-production – it was tough."It's still a tender spot for all of us. We really put so much time and thought into it. And then I just had all of these other projects lined up that I was very excited to divert my energies into."But look, the interest in the subject hasn't gone away. The amazement with the subject and her hasn't gone away. And the desire to...

Getting a film made when it doesn’t involve superheroes or isn’t part of a larger franchise is growing more and more difficult in Hollywood. Even when you have an Oscar-caliber people attached, such as director Todd Haynes and star Michelle Williams, getting financing for a film is just increasingly hard to do. So, in the case of the film, “Fever,” the film isn’t getting made, at this point in time, but the interest is there from the two aforementioned folks.

Todd Haynes has spent a large portion of the past decade trying to make “Fever,” his planned Peggy Lee biopic that never materialized. Haynes originally boarded the project in 2014, when Reese Witherspoon was attached to play the legendary crooner. She was eventually replaced by Haynes’ “I’m Not There” and “Wonderstruck” collaborator Michelle Williams, who developed the film alongside Haynes until its financing fell through.
“It’s gone the way of the buffalo, I’m afraid,” Williams said when asked about the film in a 2022 interview. “But if anyone reading this story would like to resurrect it, Todd and I are on board for that.”
Todd Haynes went on to direct “May December” instead, and recently made his way to the New York Film Festival to attend the film’s U.S. premiere. Speaking to IndieWire on the red carpet, Haynes recalled the painful experience of scrapping “Fever” and echoed Williams’ sentiments about potentially revisiting it.

John Rosman's "New Life" is a blistering multidimensional thriller that hits from all directions — the kind of debut filmmakers dream about. It messes with you psychologically, stokes existential dread, and drips with bodily liquids worth repulsive physical effects. Where some first features hinge on a sole signature that pulls audiences through less accomplished elements, "New Life" exposes few weaknesses. Rossman creates a small-scale apocalypse movie that becomes achingly intimate despite the threat of worldwide eradication, weighing the disease of one against the infection of many in ways unexplored by notable comparison points like Danny Boyle's "28 Days Later" or the Pastor brothers' "Carriers."

Jimi Hendrix met Lithofayne (Faye) Pridgon outside the Apollo theater. He was trying to get backstage to talk with Sam Cooke, who he thought could help his career. Hendrix and Pridgon took a quick liking to each other. Here’s how their whirlwind romance began.
Who was Faye Pridgon?
Pridgon was born in Dirty Spoon, Georgia. She was the daughter of a professional dancer and reportedly the illegitimate great granddaughter of Henry Ford, according to Wild Thing by Philip Norman. At 15 years old she had an affair with Little Willie John, who’s known for the song “Fever.” At 16, she was romantically connected to Same Cooke, which is how she got Hendrix backstage that night at the Apollo. It also didn’t hurt that she was best friends with Etta James.
When Hendrix met Pridgon, she was two years older than him. She wore a tight pegged skirt and higher-than-high heels.

Chicago – In a manifestation of his most famous catchphrase, filmmaker Alex Winter, also known as Bill of “Bill & Ted” fame, wants us to “be excellent to each other” when it comes to our interaction on a certain online video sharing website. He ponders all the implications in his new documentary “The YouTube Effect.”
Rating: 4.0/5.0
In a stylish and vital breakdown regarding the growth of YouTube, owned by Google (which is not well known), Winter tells a story of a noble 2005 origin aspiration that lost its way due to its sheer popularity, and is now dangerously used for propagating radicalism and affecting elections. Google is the number one most searched website in the world. Number two? YouTube … and they’re both owned by the same business. Using a stylish palette, director Winter tells a cautionary tale, that could explode into a “it may be too late” scenario. While Facebook and Twitter...

Sales agency Cercamon has debuted the trailer for time-shift drama “Embryo Larva Butterfly,” which has its world premiere in the Proxima Competition section of Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
The film, directed and written by Cypriot Kyros Papavassiliou, is described by the festival as “an imaginative film about the paradoxes of time and of romantic and other relationships.”
It centers on Penelope and Isidoros, who live in a world where today they are lovers but the following day they scarcely know one another. It is a place where time doesn’t flow, where the days appear randomly in the past, present and future.
“Their relationship is constantly changing,” according to Karlovy Vary. “It is one continuous uncertainty marked by shared searching and reassuring. Somewhere next to their world is another where time is linear. It is possible to travel from arbitrary time to linear time, but the conditions for such a...

HBO's new series "The Idol" follows Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a pop star getting ready to stage her comeback. If that sounds too basic, don't worry. The series follows Jocelyn as she gets wrapped up in a cult run by Tedros Tedros, played by The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye. Jocelyn's story has some real-life analogs, though the fictional pop star isn't based on any one specific singer. And as viewers get to hear Jocelyn's music for the first time, they might wonder if that's really Depp singing in the show. In fact, fans of the series may be curious about other cast members' onscreen vocals, as well.
Is Lily-Rose Depp Singing in "The Idol"?
Yes, Depp is providing Jocelyn's singing voice - and she was really nervous about it.
For her audition, Depp had to sing a cappella. She sang a minute of the song "Fever." "I thought, Here's where I don't get called back,...

Inside Another Fabulous Cannes Party: Dancing David Zaslav, Leonardo DiCaprio and Scarlett Johansson
The upper deck at France’s Hotel Du-Cap-Eden-Roc offers a stunning coastal view of nearby city Cannes, the kind that Jay Gatsby would covet to peep Daisy Buchanan.
On Tuesday, at one of the hottest parties at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, that view belonged to Graydon Carter. Standing alone with his wife Anna Carter, the creator of the digital publication Air Mail and former editor of Vanity Fair observed not a long-lost love but a cliffside full of movie stars, auteur directors and Hollywood power players.
Carter’s Air Mail co-hosted an evening celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Warner Bros. Pictures, the latter represented by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and his top content lieutenants. Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Lily-Rose Depp, Sam Levinson, Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rebel Wilson and more turned up to toast cinema and each other.

Should Megan Thee Stallion (or Megan Jovon Ruth Pete) officially join the project, she would star opposite Adam Sandler, who reunites with the Safdies after his acclaimed role in 2019’s “Uncut Gems.” Specifics of the film are being kept under wraps, though Sandler has confirmed it’s set in the world of sports memorabilia. Despite an uptick in sports movies, the days of Bull Durham, The Natural and Moneyball are long behind us
The crack of the bat. The roar of the crowd. The green grass and the brown dirt. These are the sights and sounds that bring joy to baseball fans every April, both in person and on the silver screen. Historically, baseball films are released in the spring to coincide with Opening Day, when even the most deadened fanbase can spare a smidge of romance and optimism. The Bad News Bears, Major League, Field of Dreams, Fever Pitch and 42 were all released in April. This year, there are none to be found, and that’s not a scheduling accident. A baseball film hasn’t had a significant theatrical release – in any month, let alone April – since 2016, when Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!! landed with a thud at the box office.

The pop-rock trio Paramore have been responsible for some of the best music of the 2000s, 2010s, and now 2020s, and is one of the most prevalent female-led rock bands of modern times. Through 15 years, the band has notched its fair share of hits, including the 2013 smash “Ain’t It Fun,” which is not only one of the band’s best known songs — and their highest peaking song on the Billboard Hot 100 — but also holds a special place in history as the band’s first Grammy Award win.
Despite their success, the Grammys never went all in on Paramore. Their first nomination was for Best New Artist in 2008, which they (understandably) lost to Amy Winehouse. “Decode,” their song for the movie “Twilight,” earned them their second nomination, this time for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Alison Goldfrapp has recorded her first official solo album, The Love Invention. The Goldfrapp singer’s solo debut drops May 12th via Skint/BMG Music, and as a preview, her new song “So Hard So Hot” is out now.
Goldfrapp — the person, not the band — has fronted the eponymous synth-pop duo with Will Gregory since 1999, but The Love Invention marks the first full-length the artist has put out on her own. Still, that doesn’t mean the album is without collaborators: Richard X, James Greenwood, and Toby Scott all appear on the LP’s credits.
“So Hard So Hot” mixes disco vibes and a more contemporary, bass-driven sound. “Do you know, do you know, do you know how stars are made?” Goldfrapp sings on the track. “Yeah you know, yeah you know, yeah you know how we radiate.” It comes with a psychedelic music video directed by Mat Maitland, which you can watch below.

Picking up an Oscar nomination (or better yet a win) can often lead to subsequent nominations in the following years. After Eddie Redmayne won Best Actor for “The Theory of Everything” in 2015, he picked up a second nomination the year later for “The Danish Girl.” And Willem Dafoe earned consecutive nominations in 2018 and 2019 for his work on”The Florida Project” and “At Eternity’s Gate.”
The Oscars afterglow is a real thing. So which of this year’s nominated stars could theoretically feel the benefit of this trend? We’ve combed through each of the 20 nominees’ next projects to see who could follow up their bid this year with a potential nomination next year. After all, it’s never too late to start thinking about the next Academy Awards, right?
