Very personal and sweet.

Late in life, Alice Faye became a spokesman for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and traveled the country making guest appearances and talking about the importance of an active senior lifestyle. This film was made to introduce Ms. Faye and her career to the audience and is a personally hosted film as she reviews her various hit films during Hollywood's classic era. As I said, it's hosted--not just narrated and it comes off as a very personal and warm filmography by Faye. It's her talking to her audience. And, in a very personal touch, at the end she shows a clip of her singing her hit song "You'll Never Know"--and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. While the overview of her career was incomplete, it is a nice treat for fans of Ms. Faye--and is well worth your time.

Warning: Spoilers
. . . by the Fox Fake Movies Company on its DVD release for THE GANG'S ALL HERE. That's funny. During a tedious 23 minutes Ms. Faye recounts the highlights from her movie career. She alludes to her debut in GEORGE WHITE'S SCANDALS (1934). She spends time rehashing the follow-up, GEORGE WHITE'S SCANDALS OF 1935. Ms. Faye then proceeds to talk about EVERYTHING happening in the world during 1938 (such as the invention of a nylon toothbrush and Orson Welles' radio program about the Martian Invasion of Planet Earth) as a round-about way to mention her part IN OLD CHICAGO. Apparently she made ANOTHER 1938 flick called ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND. After all this excitement, Ms. Faye says she teamed up with actor Don Ameche for the fifth time in something called LILLIAN RUSSELL. Following Lillian, Alice popped out first Real Life child Alice, Jr., during her WEEK-END IN HAVANA. Then came her signature song, "You'll Never Know" in HELLO FRISCO, HELLO. I guess WE'LL never know what any of this has to do with THE GANG'S ALL HERE, which totally slips Ms. Faye's mind.
