"Act Da Fool" is an American short film that runs minimally over 250 seconds, which is still under 5 minutes and was written and directed by Harmony Korine. Korine is probably most known to this day for his work on "Spring Breakers", a film I did anjoy quite a bit, but he is/was also a prolific short film director and here we got one of his neither least nor most known efforts from this genre and it was released back in 2010, so almost 10 years old now. The cast, if you even want to call it that, consists of a group of young Black woman who drink alcohol, pose for the camera and riot a bit. Well, not really riot, they destroy tires or so, but it is shown as fake slow motion, so it does look fairly harmless overall. There is frequently a chilling, maybe even soothing tone to Korine's work and this is also probably true for this one here. Well, with a whole lot imagination because it is fairly difficult to call something soothing if lacks an artistic impact from basically every perspective. This also applies to the narrator here, one of the girls obviously and honestly after seeing this little movie Ican perfectly understand why none of these have ever appeared in a film before or after this one. And most likely never will. It wasn't a good watch. Style over substance is something Korine has been struggling in many of his works and this is just another that fits the description. Admittedly he hasn't gotten much help here from anybody else of his cast and crew. Big failure. Very uninteresting. Watch something else instead.
