Can the ARC team change to future and save the world?
Tweekums22 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The previous episode saw Philip Burton open the stable anomaly at New Dawn and Connor being engulfed by it leaving two questions... will Connor survive and does the anomaly represent salvation for humanity or its end? The answers aren't hard to guess but that doesn't make this series finale any less enjoyable.

Connor is in the future that Matt comes from; a place where only predators roam the Earth's surface and what was left of humanity lived underground; Matt and Abby come through some time after him and manage to get him back. By the time they are back the anomaly has started to grow uncontrollably and Phillip realises that he is almost certainly the cause of the destruction of all life on Earth as we know it. There is a small possibility that they will be able to stop it but whoever stays in New Dawn to operate the equipment is doomed! It isn't only the people at New Dawn who are in immediate danger; predators have come through the prototype stable anomaly at ARC putting Lester and Jess in danger.

This was a good conclusion to the fifth series with plenty of tense moments; given that major characters have been killed off in the past the viewer doesn't have the reassurance that somebody won't die just because 'they are too important'... I won't spoil anything by saying whether anybody does die though! I was pleased when it was revealed that Philip Burton wasn't a bad person even if his attempts to do the right thing actually caused the problem. As the episode concludes it looks as if most things have been wrapped up then there is a twist that sets things up for another series although as things stand that doesn't look likely... who knows though; it was cancelled after series three but came back.
