Gaming giant Embracer Group, after recently splitting with Saber Interactive, in its latest move, is splitting into three new entities. The Lord of the Rings owner says it will allow the new companies to focus better on their respective works. The companies include Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, Asmodee Group, and Coffee Stain & Friends.
It may come as a surprise to many as news surrounding the company during the year 2023 and the better half of 2024 were filled with either layoffs or splitting off with studios. It also entered an agreement with Take-Two Interactive to sell Brothers in Arms creator Gearbox which the Rockstar parent believes will add strength to the company.

Dead Island 2’s best moments are also its most ridiculous. Discovering that you can acquire superpowers. Setting your feet on fire and dropkicking a horde of zombies into a pile of gasoline cans. Finding an axe that’s basically a flame thrower and a pistol that’s actually a rocket launcher. These are the kinds of moments that make Dead Island 2 feel special.
It shouldn’t be surprising that Dead Island 2 functions best as an absurd game. Most of Dead Island 2’s marketing has centered on its parody humor, silly characters, and over-the-top gore. By the time you actually finish Dead Island 2, though, you may be surprised to find that the game just isn’t ridiculous enough. For all its obvious attempts at embracing chaos, the fact of the matter is that Dead Island 2 spends too much time trying to be a much more conventional game.
Specifically, Dead Island 2 too often feels like Dying Light.

On the surface, Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2 look and play like very similar games. Not surprising since they both can trace their roots back to 2011’s Dead Island. After working on that game, developer Techland went off down their own path to create the spiritual sequel Dying Light, followed by Dying Light 2. And then Deep Silver gave Dambuster Studio the Dead Island reins (following a long and complicated development cycle). However, looks can be deceiving.
While Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2 share many similarities, they also sport many differences. These include tone, weapons, and the zombies themselves. Here are but a few we’ve noticed to help you decide which game is right for you. Don’t worry; spoilers will be kept to a minimum.

Dead Island 2 is at its best when the game is just letting you kill as many zombies as possible in the twisted town of Hell-A. Of course, the game is even more fun when you pick the playable slayer that lets you kill as many zombies as possible as effectively as possible.
While all of Dead Island 2‘s playable characters can get you through the game, some are simply better than others. That being the case, here’s a power ranking of every playable character in the game and why you should (or shouldn’t) pick them.
6. Bruno
Backstab: Bruno gets a moderate Damage boost when attacking zombies from behind.
Rapid Reprisal: Boost Bruno’s Agility and Heavy Attack Charges when he avoids attacks with a Block or Dodge.
Buno is Dead Island 2‘s version of the basic Rogue archetype, which means he boasts high critical damage and is looking to backstab zombies.

What good is a zombie apocalypse if you can’t survive it with your friends? Some of the best zombie games on the planet feature co-op, and Dead Island 2 is one of them.
The original Dead Island is a great zombie title that emphasized RPG-like leveling and skills, a looter shooter-esque weapon system, and co-op. Up to three players could team up to escape an island paradise overrun with zombies, and Dead Island 2 basically utilizes the same systems. However, Dead Island was released more than a decade ago, so its sequel offers a few more tricks when it comes to co-op and crossplay. Here’s how to enjoy the game’s various multiplayer options.
Dead Island 2: How to Unlock and Play Co-Op

Dead Island 2 survived its trip through development hell and is ready to be released. Reviews of the game so far have been a bit mixed, though it’s generally agreed that Dead Island 2 is a very entertaining take on the first game’s core concepts. So when will you be able to play it for yourself?
Dead Island 2 is scheduled to be released on April 21st at midnight in every global timezone. It was previously suspected that the game would utilize a staggered release schedule, but that information has since proven to be inaccurate. The Dead Island 2 team even released this time zone map that shows exactly when you’ll be able to access the game:
Furthermore, the time above seems to apply to every version of the game. Again, there were previously some questions regarding whether or not PC gamers would have to wait longer to play Dead Island...

Bloody Disgusting’s Dead Island 2 review is spoiler-free.
When the first Dead Island released all the way back in 2011 (yes it’s been that long), publisher Deep Silver and original developer Techland delivered a satisfying take on the zombie genre with an open map to explore, characters to upgrade, and wild weapons to customize. Now after its initial announcement in 2014 (yes it’s been that long), we finally have the long awaited follow-up. With a brand new setting, a new developer in the form of Dambuster Studios, and all new gameplay mechanics, I’m happy to report that Dead Island 2 is not the game I expected after all these years. It’s better than I could have ever hoped, as well as an absolute love letter to horror movies, the sunny skies of California, and our insatiable appetite for destruction.

Eight long years after the original announcement, Dead Island 2 is on the verge of launch. Deep Silver has done the customary and released the launch trailer for the open world zombie epic, which is set to arrive this Friday for PC and consoles.
Designed to “hold you over for a few more days”, the Dead Island 2 launch trailer clips the intro sequence from the gameplay video released last week, while offering up a few more details about the story in between slicing up and bashing zombies. Plenty of gore, one liners and mayhem abound.
The long-awaited next entry in the Dead Island franchise, Dead Island 2 places players in the shoes of one of six survivors – Amy, Bruno, Dani, Ryan, Carla, and Jacob. After finding out that you’re immune to the zombie virus (the hard way), humanity’s future is in your hands. Aided by newfound friends, including the original Dead Island’s Sam B.,...

It won’t be much longer for Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios’ Dead Island 2. After giving us a taste of the opening cinematic a few weeks back, the first 11 minutes of gameplay for Dead Island 2 have been revealed in a new video, courtesy of IGN.
This particular gameplay video centres on Ryan, one of the three Slayers you’ll be able to play as in Dead Island 2. After surviving a plane crash (and doing a little emergency surgery), the footage sees you navigating the wreckage, eventually meeting up with fellow survivors of the crash. We also get to see the first zombie slayings, which provides an excuse to see Dambuster’s deliciously gory Flesh System in action.
Set several months after the events of the first game, Dead Island 2 sees the United States military putting California under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for...
