You can split Season 8 into two parts: Episode 1-9 and Episode 10-16.
I rate the first "part" better than the last. Somehow it gets out of steam from episode 10 onwards (The first Episode with Courtney). Also there is too much denigrating of Alan in the last ones IMO (Skunk, Ponzi scheme etc.) We all know that Alan hasn't a very lucky life, but this is to much IMO. I don't like that Rose-Puppet stuff either.
This is in my opinion the last "good" episode of the season if you watch them consecutive. It has a very funny plot with Esmeralda and Alan's fear of Larry, the ex-husband of Lyndsey.
Also an argument against the last episodes is that from episode 14 onwards Charlie looks bad. He lost weight, had long hair and looked older somehow.
