Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are going intergalactic in their latest adventure!
After taking on Ghost Rider, Life Model Decoys and the Hydra-ruled Framework in their action-packed fourth season, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team finds themselves suddenly -- and unexpectedly -- in outer space in Friday’s season five premiere.
The specifics of the agents’ new adventure amid the stars have been kept tightly under wraps -- we can tell from the pulse-pounding trailer that it involves the Kree, a group of “true believers” and some creepy, demodog-looking aliens -- however, Et recently spoke with series newcomer Jeff Ward about what to expect from the upcoming season.
“It’s interesting, because the show is in a bit of reset this season, and it’s fun because all of the characters that everybody is so familiar with and likes so much, it’s kind of the first time that they’re in a situation where they are...

Production on Avengers: Infinity War might be over now, but new set photos from the shoot are still working their way online. The latest ones, which we have for you below, tease a team-up between two of the newer heroes to join the McU. Well, kind of.
The following two images, snapped by Twitter user @SaraSchon, hint at a meeting between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange on the streets of New York City, specifically near Sheridan Square. Obviously, these pics don’t feature Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland, but rather a life-size mannequin of Spidey and a model of Strange’s Cloak of Levitation.

If you’re wondering why these, shall we say, Life Model Decoys are being used, we’ve seen similar models pop up in set photos throughout the movie’s shoot.

It’s the end of the world as we know it in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season four finale! At least it will be, if Aida has her way.
This season of S.H.I.E.L.D. was split into three consecutive pods of episodes -- Ghost Rider, Life Model Decoys, and the Framework reality-based Agents of Hydra -- but now, the three storylines are coming together for one epic season closer, as Dr. Radcliffe’s former android assistant (played brilliantly by Mallory Jansen) has built herself a human body and is out for revenge!
As the team recovers from their time in the Framework’s alternate reality, the Lmd-turned-all-powerful Inhuman is hell bent on global destruction after getting an overdose of human emotion in her new, organic body, and the agents will need every trick in the book if they hope to stop the super-powered being.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced a major new player from the comics at the beginning of season 4 in Gabriel Luna’s Robbie Reyes Aka Ghost Rider. While his version of the Spirit of Vengeance was well-received by fans, the character met a surprising end a while back when he was jettisoned to another dimension with his evil uncle Eli Morrow.
TVLine have now revealed, though, that Ghost Rider will return in AoS‘s fourth season finale, titled “World’s End.” The official Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Twitter account had previously teased the same thing with a post that hinted at “flamin’ hot weather” to come. Check it out below:

After four seasons of playing the stoic-yet-heroic Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Ming-Na Wen finally got to visit the dark side -- and she loved it!
“It’s so fun being evil,” the actress gushed to Et’s Leanne Aguilera during a recent Facebook Live. “I’m just realizing that everybody likes the bad guys. It’s so weird, they love us being evil!”
Wen’s character is one of the agents who took a dark turn in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third and final “pod” of episodes this season, thanks to the Framework -- an alternate, virtual reality constructed by Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) and perfected by his android assistant, Aida (Mallory Jansen), who quickly overtook her human master to seize the reins of the fabricated world.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has entered the darkest timeline.
In a shocking series twist, last week’s episode ended with Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) as the only remaining humans among their S.H.I.E.L.D. counterparts after a Life Model Decoy takeover. The two then entered Dr. Radcliffe’s Framework in order to save their fellow agents -- who have all been replaced by LMDs -- revealing an alternate reality that turns the S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘verse on its head.
Among other surprises, in the Framework’s skewed reality, Daisy is still dating Ward (Brett Dalton, who S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen recently confirmed is returning to the show), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is a billionaire with a mystery woman on his arm, Simmons is dead, and May (Ming-Na Wen) is revealed to be Hydra, riding an elevator...

If perception is reality, at what point will the synths be accepted as equals by the human race, now that more and more of the synths act just like us?
That's where the story is headed, and in Humans Season 2 Episode 3, all the human characters are grappling with just how to accept the inevitability of synths living side by side with them.
The Niska story is obviously the most thought provoking, but all the storylines deal with the sea change of synth self awareness in their own way.
Mia finally telling Ed about her self awareness was big enough, but to drop that she's warm for his form too must have been hard to take.
Just imagine yourself in that situation. What would you do? Ed is clearly lonely, so any port in a storm for him, right?
I like you more than anything I've ever seen, or heard, or touched.

Before they were beheading Life Model Decoys, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were busy having a run-in with the vengeful Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna). Earlier in the season, we got to see the show's take on Robbie's origin story and how he became united with the Spirit of Vengeance. Fans were elated when it was revealed that a second Ghost Rider (implied but never confirmed to be Johnny Blaze) passed the spirit into Robbie, saving his life. Many people hoped that this small cameo was hinting at things to come; in the comics, Blaze was a mentor to Robbie, helping him understand what he had become. With Blaze seemingly appearing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., some hoped we'd be seeing a team-up between the two Ghost Riders in a future episode, or a spin-off show focusing solely on them. Sadly, producer Jeff Bell has cleared the air on the subject...

In a fitting announcement, Entertainment Weekly has revealed that Patton Oswalt will be returning to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Sam and Billy Koenig. Oswalt debuted on the show as Eric Koenig in the first season, who was murdered by Hydra agent Grant Ward. Season 2 introduced his identical brothers, Sam and Billy, also played by the actor. Given the characters' eerily identical looks and vocal greetings, many fans have theorized that the Koenigs were actually Life Model Decoys, which have now been officially introduced in the show's fourth season. Could this mean the Koenigs will be confirmed as Lmd's? Showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have teased that something will be revealed: “Patton Oswalt returns as the Koenigs, and we finally reveal their family secret.” Oswalt will return in the January 31st episode, "Hot Potato Soup", which will see Sam and Billy being hunted down by an unknown force in relation to the Darkhold.

Last night, one of the first shows to come back from their midseason break was aired: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. They have retired Ghost Rider for the time being and decided instead to focus on robots that can pass for humans. LMDs, or Life Model Decoys, I believe were originally created in the comics as a plot device to explain a death and bring a character back to life. Over time, they have become the "shield" of central characters to save them in a kill attempt and more than once the LMDs have gone rogue, the most recent being a Lmd of Jake Fury (Nick's brother) and the robot doesn't even know that it is an artificial lifeform.

Well, the return of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had pretty much everything you could want in a television program: killer robots, kickass action, epic betrayal, and a copious amount of Eighties movie references. It was so much fun, I made it halfway through the hour before realizing I missed Robbie Reyes.
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 9, Aida wasted no time in getting her evil plan into action. Said evil plan involved getting control of the Darkhold, the book of black magic that made Aida so powerful in the first place.
Exactly how powerful? We're talking capable of rewriting her own programming powerful. Yeah. Imagine if your iPhone could do that. (To be fair, it feels like my phone is doing that to me every time I try to check my email on it.) Scary stuff.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns tomorrow night from the winter break with a brand new story arc. When we last left off, it was revealed that Aida had replaced Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) with a robotic duplicate, known as a Life Model Decoy. While it will probably take a few episodes to find out when the switch happened, Wen revealed in an interview with EW that part of the process came from when Aida had access to May's brain patterns earlier in the season. “One of the key factors about an Lmd is that, right now, Aida has created a replica of May using all her brain data that they downloaded when she was dying.” she revealed. This isn't the first time Wen has played a different version of May; season 2 saw the character of Agent 33 get stuck with May's physical appearance. For Wen, playing an Lmd was a little easier,...

Just how long has the real May been out of commission? Since the Ghost sickness or even earlier? Minga-Na Wen teases that the main question that needs to be answered is, "'What is Radcliffe's motivation?’ — not so much Aida's — because he's the taskmaster in this whole scheme of changing out May for the Lmd May. Is [his agenda] for something good … or is he the mad scientist hoping to advance science? Now that the Ghost Rider storyline has wrapped up (for the time being, anyway), Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicks off its Lmd arc when it returns from its winter hiatus next Tuesday night. It’s already been confirmed that Doctor Radcliffe’s beautiful, but deadly android Aida will be the show’s next big bad, and in this first sneak peek from the midseason premiere, “Broken Promises,” we see her rebel against her human masters for the first time.
The clip begins with Radcliffe arriving home with Fitz and several nameless Agents to find Aida waiting on him. Despite attempting to play it cool, the synthetic stunner sees through their ruse, and when the good doctor tries to shut his creation down, things quickly turn violent. Aida reveals that she’s added “a few upgrades” of her own, and strikes Radcliffe before the scene ends. We’ll assume at...

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for the second half of its fourth season in just over a week, and to mark the occasion, ABC has released a new promotional poster featuring a character who’s set to become the main focus of the new Lmd story arc now that Ghost Rider is out of the picture: Agent Melinda May (Ming Na-Wen).
The poster comes with the tagline “Strange Tales,” and you’ll also notice the number 135 down in the bottom right. The reason for this is that Strange Tales issue #135 features a story in which Nick Fury is mysteriously cloned upon paying a visit to the Pentagon, and the resulting doppelganger is in fact the very first Lmd (or “Life Model Decoy”) to appear in the pages of a Marvel comic book.

Strange Tales indeed. When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on January 10 to finish off its fourth season, Agent Coulson and his team will shift focus from dealing with a fiery Spirit of Vengeance to mechanical Life Model Decoys hellbent on infiltrating the group. There's already one doppelganger hiding amongst the team and there's sure to be many more. The promotional poster below highlights the series return while also providing a hidden message to old-school Marvel fans. Strange Tales #135 was a key issue in Marvel's publication history which saw Nick Fury brought forward to modern times and was the very first issue featuring an Lmd. When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. announced that their fourth season would introduce Ghost Rider, many fans hoped that the Spirit of Vengeance would feature in a season-long capacity. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case when Robbie Reyes seemingly sacrificed himself to destroy the demon core and his Uncle Eli in the winter finale of the show. S.H.I.E.L.D. will be shifting its focus to Aida and Life Model Decoys upon its return, but don't count out Ghost Rider just yet. “He is trapped in another place,” co-showrunner Jed Whedon said to TV Line, “which usually means that he’s not dead.” Executive producer Jeffrey Bell also elaborated that a season-long stint of Ghost Rider would be troublesome both financially and creatively. “[Ghost Rider is] a lot for 22 [episodes], especially with everything else that we like and care about on the show. It would feel like one flavor over a long period of time,...

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have dealt with Eli Morrow with the help of the now Mia Ghost Rider in the winter finale a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like they're going to be tested by several new enemies when the show returns in the new year. The promo for this episode already made it pretty clear that android Aida was being set up as the new big bad, but the synopsis below reveals that the team will also be up against a more powerful incarnation of the Watchdog group, and their "mysterious benefactor." On the heels of their encounter with Ghost Rider, their strangest phenomenon yet, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. suddenly find themselves up against a myriad of new and ongoing threats: The anti-Inhuman Watchdogs are gaining political influence with Senator Nadeer, and uniting behind a mysterious benefactor. When Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. broke for its winter hiatus a couple of weeks ago, several storylines – including the featured Ghost Rider arc – were wrapped up for the time being, but there’s going to be plenty more for our heroes to deal with over the course of the remaining season 4 episodes. The promo for January’s return instalment teased some of the dangers that await Coulson and co. next month, and now a new synopsis gives us an even better idea of what to expect.
The new “Lmd” subtitle already made it pretty clear that Dr. Radcliffe’s beautiful android Aida would be the new big bad, but it seems the Agents are also going to have to contend with the reemergence of The Watchdogs, and a “mysterious benefactor” that’s funding the organization.

After wrapping up the Ghost Rider story arc last night, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. teased a brand new direction in its final moments, with Aida revealed to have created a Life Model Decoy of Agent Melinda May, which has been planted within the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. The length of time the duplicate has been with the team is currently unknown, and executive producer Jed Whedon has hinted it might be longer than we think due to the copy's ability to mimic human behavior. “We said it at the beginning of the season that [LMDs] were mimicking human behavior. But Aida took some sort of leap and built a brain of her own and so the real difference is that they represent people that we know and it's not a big robot baddie, and there is some of that obviously, but right now we know that there's one among...

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have gone on winter vacation.
One hopes that Mack and Yo-Yo will find some time to go on some nice, relatively normal dates; that Simmons and Fitz will relax, unpack and decorate their new digs; and that Daisy will go to a shopping mall and buy some (preferably not Nineties grunge) new clothes without getting accosted by the authorities.
Sounds nice, right? However, for the rest of us, it's looking like a long bleak winter without Coulson and Company, who won't be back on our screens until January 10, 2017.
Well, it's really only a month, but it feels like a long time after a midseason finale that both satisfied fans and left us wanting more.

Our beloved agents just took three weeks off, but before they did, they left us with a pretty bombastic cliffhanger.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 6 revealed that Eli Morrow is the real villain of the story. Not only that: In channeling the power of the Darkhold to create matter out of thin air, he caused an explosion that made Coulson, Fitz and Robbie disappear.
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 7, the remaining members of the team must deal with the fallout of this catastrophic event and figure out how to rescue Coulson, Fitz and Robbie – if it's even possible to do so.
Fortunately, it is. Turns out, the guys didn't totally disappear – they're just trapped between dimensions.
However, unlike ghostly Lucy, who was able to swan around all semi-transparent and screw with people, Coulson and Company cannot be seen or heard by anyone, nor can they affect the world around them.

Is there any better match for the superhero than the origin story? Well, maybe capes, but those are overrated (and as we all learned in The Incredibles, can be the tragic undoing of even the most powerful among us).
Sometimes origin stories can feel unnecessary – after all, a little mystery can be a good thing – or repetitive – there are only so many times we need to watch Bruce Wayne's parents die – but when done well, they can be the ideal way to keep audiences connected to the human side of superhumans.
Origin stories remind us of what superheroes were they were like when they were, well, just like us.
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 6, we were treated to a standout origin story. And while Ghost Rider may not be a stereotypical superhero (in that he is obviously far more cursed than blessed by his abilities), it didn't dilute the...

Prison riots, blackmail and vengeance – oh my! The latest installment of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s shenanigans with Ghost Rider was definitely the best so far this season. Not only was it packed with action as per usual, but many of the show's storylines actually moved forward!
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 5, the majority of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is preoccupied with a mission at the secure prison where Robbie's Uncle Eli is being kept. Since the mission involves a member of his own family, Robbie insists on coming along -- though some members of the team, primarily Mack, are not enthusiastic about the idea.
Pretty much the entire episode takes place in the prison, which means we're treated to an awesome prison riot scene straight of out an old-school grindhouse movie...if grindhouse movies had to abide by network television's rules and regulations for violence.

No one ever accused Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. of being subtle. But, sometimes you don't want subtle. Sometimes you want to see fire literally fought with fire. And on that front, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 4 definitely delivered.
Now, I never liked James. As a character, he feels like a bargain-basement version of Sawyer from Lost – a sinewy, stubbly bad boy who is supposed to be charming in his roguishness. Except, James is not charming. He's just a jerk.
(To be fair, Sawyer was also a jerk. But Josh Holloway could pull it off. This guy can't.)
Needless to say, I was not looking forward to more James in this episode. I was especially not looking forward to the idea of James allying himself with Daisy. The last thing we need is this guy's annoying Australian drawl slavered all over every episode for the rest of the season.

Nothing like a power outage to ruin a good party, am I right?
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 3, titled "Uprising," a series of blackouts caused by EMPs made cities around the world vulnerable to vigilantes trying to hunt down Inhumans.
The downside to this was that all of the awesome fight sequences in this episode took place in the dark. This led to some cool use of light and show to illuminate movement (reminiscent of how Roger Deakins' killer cinematography illuminated James Bond's adventures in Skyfall), but mostly a lot of me squinting.
However, the upside was that one of the blackouts took place in Miami, where Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez was attending a bachelorette party. And I am always in favor of more scenes with Yo-Yo.
Yo-Yo's dry, sarcastic wit never fails to bring a smile to my face, and her sizzling chemistry with Mack means that they're...

A long summer full of superhero blockbusters is at an end, which means it's time to welcome our favorite band of Marvel misfits back to the small screen. While Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s big takeaway from Comic-Con was the announced inclusion of Ghost Rider in the show's fourth season, there are still a lot of hanging threads from the end of last season to deal with. One of the biggest factors is the inclusion of Life Model Decoys, teased in the last scene of the season finale. According to executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, despite Ghost Rider's background being rooted in mysticism, the show is making a concerted effort to blend the seemingly separate world of magic with the grounded basis of science. "You'll see this in the movies that are coming," said Whedon at Comic-Con this past weekend. "In Thor, they famously said, 'Magic is just science we don't understand.' The McU started with Iron Man, who is a guy who built a suit -- a smart guy built a suit.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. wraps up its third season with a two-part showdown between Hive and Coulson’s gang...

21 & 22 Absolution & Ascension
Absolution kicked off with a rather strange opening scene, seemingly on the planet Maveth, with Daisy attempting to rejig some wiring while Coulson looks sad. Everyone else, apparently, is dead. Part of me thought that Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. was showing us the end of the story first, Fight Club-style, but this scene ended up being a dream sequence. It was totally irrelevant to the two-parter season finale that followed. Odd.
So, the season 3 finale didn’t exactly start by putting its best foot forward. But from there things soon started to look up. We had some cool spy stuff, with Fitz using motion capture and a green screen to secure the code needed to shut down Hive’s nuke. Followed quickly by...

A review of tonight's "Marvel's Agents of Shield" coming up just as soon as I wish I was a hat guy... Pretty much everyone of import was around but Skye's crazy father, and we got a bunch of new info about the mystery city, which seems more blatantly than ever to be Attillan, given Raina definitively identifying the blue-skinned aliens as the Kree. (*) Hey, turns out ABC marketing occasionally can take a hint, and they ditched the awful "Sometimes, the best man for a job is a Woman!

Many folks are now worried that Deadpool will end up being a PG-13 movie which is Really jumping the gun here. At least I think they’d hedge their bets a...

Warning: This story contains major spoilers from the season premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Read at your own risk!
Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., what’s left of the organization took a big hit in the season premiere all for the tiniest of victories.
After the show flashed back to the ‘40s to see Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) and the Howling Commandos shut down the last of the Hydra outposts, they packed away the very first 0-8-4, an object seemingly at the center of this year’s mystery.
