'Dosti' (2005): Karan (played by Bobby Deol) and Raj (Akshay Kumar) are two lonely people. Karan is materially spoiled and emotionally neglected by his wealthy, self-absorbed parents. Raj has nothing and no one in his life. These two needy men form an unusually strong friendship—and despite its intensity, it’s entirely platonic. While Indian men are commendably more affectionate with one another than American men, Karan and Raj behave so romantically—even holding hands and singing love songs to each other—that American viewers will likely expect the characters to eventually come clean about the true nature of their feelings.
