Moviefone's New Release Pick of the Week "The Hole" What's It About? Joe Dante ("Gremlins," "The Howling") returns to horror with a kid-friendly movie about two brothers who move to a new house and discover a mysterious bottomless pit in their basement where living, breathing representations of their biggest fears reside. See It Because: "The Hole" got a criminally shafted theatrical release, so you owe it to yourself to watch it in time for Halloween -- especially if you're a child of the '80s or are looking for some good old-fashioned, family-friendly horror that isn't "for babies." (Also Available on Netflix) Moviefone's Blu-ray Pick of the Week "The Princess Bride" 25th Anniversary Edition What's It About? "The Princess Bride" is 25 years old?! That officially pushes it out of the "modern classic" category and into just "classic." See It Because: If you haven't already seen it you must be a...

The role played by canine star Uggie in silent movie The Artist has attracted a lot of attention but it wasn't his first appearance.
The lovable Jack Russell (right) was also on screen in 2011's Water for Elephants starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.
In fact, this past year has seen several standout performances by dogs in Hollywood productions and on TV. And now this somewhat neglected area of acting has its own awards ceremony.
The first annual Golden Collar Awards take place in Los Angeles on Monday, February 13. The full list of nominees in all categories is included below.

Earlier this month, Harrison Ford was targeted for the adaptation of Ender's Game, based on the 1985 novel by Orson Scott Card. Coming from the sci-fi/Western mash-up of Cowboys and Aliens, it would seem that Ford would want to stay away from yet another sci-fi movie, as the actor's resume likes to switch genres from project to project. But with Ford being cast in the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, Ender's Game seemed like a good possibility, and finally it's official.
THR reports that Ford has signed on to play Colonel Hyrum Graff, Commander of Training for the International Fleet. In Ender's Game, humanity has been decimated by an insect-like alien race, with the government enlisting gifted children into battle school to train them to aid in the fight against the invaders. Bullied Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield, Hugo) masters a zero-gravity, laser-tag game and Graff sees his potential for saving humanity. Abigail Breslin...

Not just a typical paranormal activity. Focus Features released the first poster for the upcoming stop-motion zombie comedy film “ParaNorman” through Yahoo! Movies. The film will be voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee (“Let Me In,” “The Road”), Tucker Albrizzi (“Spooky Buddies,” “Uploading to Angels”), Casey Affleck (“Gone Baby Gone,” “Good Will Hunting”), Anna Kendrick (“Up in the Air,” “New Moon”), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Superbad,” “Kick-Ass”) and Leslie Mann (“Knocked Up,” “The 40 Year Old Virgin”). Here is a brief synopsis: Norman, a boy who is able to speak with the dead, will have to take on zombies, ghosts, witches and, worst of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. The film will be directed by Sam Fell (“Flushed Away,” “The Tale of Despereaux”) and Chris Butler (“Corpse Bride,” “Coraline”). “ParaNorman” will be released on August 17th next year. Check out the poster below. Source: Yahoo! Movies...

It wasn’t until I watched Mr. Plinkett’s hilarious review of Cop Dog that it truly hit me how many low budget direct-to-dvd kiddy doggy flicks there have been. It doesn’t look anyone’s going to drive a stake through this subgenre’s heart anytime soon, and that’s a good thing because a Vampire Dog is coming to sink his adorable fangs into your neck.
Seriously, watch that Mr. Plinkett review where he runs down a seemingly endless list of DVD dog movies. It just goes on forever. Adding a bit of a ghoulish twist isn’t out the question either given this year alone has spawned Spooky Buddies, Monster Mutt, and The Dog that Saved Halloween. Now Canadian Tax Shelter Theater, in association with Trilight Entertainment and Joker Films, proudly presents Vampire Dog.

Bridesmaids Watching this on Blu-ray it was my second time seeing this film so watching the unrated version I really didn't notice any major differences outside of some scenes seeming to run a bit long. When I wrote my theatrical review I ended it saying "I'm not sure I want to see it again," and after seeing it again I still feel that way.
I was watching it with my girlfriend and the longer and longer the film wore on she was getting frustrated with how many bad things happen with Kristen Wiig's character rather than how many funny things were happening. It was an interesting complaint and I'm not sure if it was a reaction to the additional six minutes on the unrated cut, but I also got the impression she wouldn't even be interested in giving the theatrical cut a spin.

Boccaccio ’70 (1962)
Synopsis: Four legendary filmmakers direct some of Europe’s biggest stars in Boccaccio ’70, a landmark anthology film. Mario Monicelli (Big Deal on Madonna Street), Federico Fellini (8½), Luchino Visconti (The Leopard) and Vittorio De Sica (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) direct Sophia Loren, Anita Ekberg, Romy Schneider and more through four stories of unashamed eros. Modeled on Boccaccio’s Decameron, they are comic moral tales about the hypocrisies surrounding sex in 1960s Italy. Monicelli’s “Renzo e Luciana” (cut out of the original American release) is a frothy tale of young love and office politics in the big city. Fellini’s notorious “Le tentazioni del dottor Antonio” features Ekberg as a busty model in a milk advertisement whose image begins to haunt an aging prude. Visconti’s “Il Lavoro” stars Romy Schneider as a trophy wife enduring her husband’s very public affairs,...
