I used to be a huge fan of the Power Rangers in the nineties, considering I was just a kid that got impressed with such subjects. Watching this episode last night, after maybe ten years without seeing anything related to them, I admit I had a good time. The cast is just as normal as it could be, but almost everybody seems to be in the right spot-- with exception of Alex Heartman, who'd be better cast in a musical film. The conversations are as cheesy as they could, but that's exactly what we should expect from this kind of show, especially if it's aimed to teenagers and kids. The villains are well dubbed, delivering some funny moments, even if they're beating up on our rangers. Special effects are GREAT, and much nicer than they used to be back in the nineties-- for obvious reasons I suppose. The big difference is that now they call out their powers from a cellphone, which is exactly what kids are into nowadays. That being said, I don't understand why people are so harsh on "Power Rangers Samurai"; this is just as clumsy and formulaic as the power rangers has always been, and that's make them SO GOOD. I guess some people are getting too old and have that nostalgic feeling that "everything was better when they were kids". That's the only reason I can imagine. If this show is pretty much like this episode, I have no doubt that kids will ADORE it.
