- This program shows the Paul Winter Consort and the music of Paul Winter, played and demonstrated in the beauty and splendor of the Grand Canyon. As Paul Winter and his musicians travel by boat through the canyon, they stop occasionally and create music inspired by what they see and hear on the river and among the cliff formations.—George D. Dodge
- An independently produced music film that aired on PBS. Features the Paul Winter Consort as they raft the entire 225 mile length of the Grand Canyon, stopping in remote side canyons to compose and record music for their new album, "Canyon".—David Vassar
- Canyon Consort - 1985 Producer John Lyddon agreed to fund a one-hour documentary about Paul Winter's musical journey through the Grand Canyon. For 18 days the small crew would film and record the celebrated Paul Winter Consort as they journeyed through the Grand Canyon in search of music that was "of the canyon rather than about it." The film's finale takes place in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City where the Consort performs their finished music. The 120 foot vaulted ceilings of the grand Cathedral's provides the perfect counterpoint for the dramatic beauty of the Grand Canyon. For Paul Winter, producer, John Lyddon, and director, David Vassar, the film is a celebration of the beauty of nature and their endeavor to bring that sense of wonder to a larger audience. The film aired nationally on PBS and remains one of the most watched one-off documentary specials in the network's history. A technically challenging shoot because of the logistics of the Grand Canyon. All gear had to be packed in waterproof cases to endure the Class 5 white water rapids. Shoot also involved a second river trip in November to pick up scenic shots of the Canyon; two boats five people. Grand Prize winner, Italian International Festival of Films on Art. Hugo nominee, Chicago International Film Festival. Released on A&M Video and Pioneer Laser Disc. "A tribute to nature, man, and creativity, Canyon Consort proves to be sublime television entertainment. Delivers an inspiring message about the journey of creativity as an important aspect of humankind. Thus, Canyon Consort is, perhaps, the ultimate travelogue." Christian Science Monitor
