A mediocre hodgepodge of UFOs-related content
take2docs5 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, we're familiar with the topic of Roswell. Same goes for Rendlesham and Area 51. Blue Book and MJ-12 -- ditto. Close encounters; a government cover-up; Disclosure. These too are discussed here as they are in numerous other documentaries on UFOs.

There are umpteen programs on Unidentified Flying Objects and Alien Abductions. What makes this one any different, you might ask? Not much. Same old rehash.

Specifically, what drew me to want to watch this was its stellar list of interviewees, of high-profile names within or at the periphery of ufology.

It turns out these are all very brief appearances. Almost each and every interviewee is interesting enough to merit his or her own full-length presentation, but all we get from them are clips -- screen time akin to the equivalent of soundbites. It's a bit like watching a 90-minute trailer.

It's what makes THE HIDDEN HAND a mere satisfactory documentary: namely, the rather incoherent manner in which it has been composed. One minute there's someone speaking about, say, plasma UFOs; the next, about military jets that were scrambled to try and intercept a UFO back in 1957. It goes on like this for the length of the entire program. It's a doc that's been put-together rather discursively. As such, it lacks depth, fresh insights, and is rather forgettable.

As an introductory overview of UFOs and the various side- and sub-topics related to it, I suppose this doc is adequate enough for abecedarians. But for those already acquainted with much of this material, there's nothing that really stands out to set it apart from the countless other documentaries of its ilk.

The title is in reference to ETs and the question of whether they have played an overall inconspicuous part in guiding humankind, and whether this ET presence is in modern times creating a gradual shift in human consciousness as our species slowly awakens to the possibility of their being in our midst, if not involved in human affairs at some level.

Pretty good documentary
tmdarby17 September 2015
It was a good documentary. I was excited to see Whitley Strieber being interviewed. The people interviewed were very articulate and presented their stories quite well.

The documentary itself was also quite well done. This however might be a bit too much for a person unfamiliar with the cover up to handle. The sheer number of people interviewed that were or are military and government professionals adds a lot of weight to the documentary in my opinion.

The only criticism I have is the inclusion of David Icke. To anyone who has seriously looked into this information in the past knows that Icke is a hack and quite possibly insane. I probably would have given this an 8 if he wasn't in it.

Mental Patients Escaped Asylum and Decided to Make a Movie about ETs
sgphoto20 May 2014
Usual cast of silly characters, publicity hounds, psychotic 'abductees', and authors looking to sell more books. What is interesting is there really are people walking around this earth so deluded. We must be grateful that the ex-military presented never had keys to the nuclear arsenal.

No evidence presented, but many of the cast looked as though a tornado just tore up their double-wide in the Spooky Acres Trailer Park and Abductee Center.

It's the same UFO stories repeated ad nauseam since the 1940s. Most of the contactees appear to have a larger shoe size than IQ.

Here's the far-fetched mindset of these self-deluded hucksters, PSI fakes, abductees, and the other True Believers.

You're from another planet. Your technology is far beyond anything we can imagine. You come to earth. Rather than find the brilliant scientists, philosophers, thinkers, inventors, and other luminaries at any given time throughout history you decide to contact and abduct only the ignorant, simple-minded, mentally deficient, and the most paranoid psychotics you can find. Then, for generations, you stay with that same family of sub-par mental misfits for experimentation and breeding purposes.

Makes perfect sense. Find the dumbest people on earth. There's a light-speed trip worth taking.

There probably is other intelligent life in this universe. Unfortunately, there is no intelligent life in this movie.

Do not eat or drink while watching this movie as you might choke from laughing.

For the record, I'm a reptilian overload from the planet Kzrgqwl and Barack Obama is also reptilian. I have the same evidence to prove my claims as the people in this movie.

If extraterrestrial beings ever saw this film, they'd walk out of the theater
jcsolorzano28 May 2014
I'm not trying to be rude neither to undermine the work and time spent on developing this "documentary", but everything showed here is nothing short than collective delusion.

A single individual believing something that may sound far fetched as it is not based on any evidence whatsoever is simply wrong, but if you pool together 5, then 10, then 20, then 100 people believing the same far fetched ideas, the delusion feeds itself. After one person says something and the next one believes it and then says something equally crazy and the next person does the same, and so does the next one, so it goes, it is an endless loop of insanity feeding itself.

I'm not saying there's no life somewhere else, it's bound to be, the universe is just too big for us to be alone. But if you're looking for evidence or for structurally sound ideas or theories regarding extraterrestrial life, this equivocally called "documentary" is not for you, Keanu Reeve's The Day the Earth Stood Still or Ben10 make much much much more scientific sense than this.

A controversy touting movie without substance , an insult to intelligent people
coldfusion19781 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I really do not have too much to say except that this movie may be liked by people with IQs south of 75. This movie does try to convince the viewer that super intelligent alien life forms exist. This is actually not far fetched but the way they go about trying to prove it is hilarious. Whats really mind numbing is that this movie tells you that these super intelligent beings with their advanced technology somehow kidnap random people to probe their orifices and then return them back. These super beings also do not want to reveal that they exist and hence hide from intelligent humans while trying to reveal their existence to obscure people by kidnapping, experimenting with and then returning them. ....well..I rest my case.

Only about a third of this is worth paying attention to
DJ_Reticuli17 June 2015
Unfortunately, it's surrounded by fantasy. I assume Jacobs and several of the abductees have disavowed this piece of trash. I would hope the military commissioned and noncommissioned officers who were in this have done the same. The director, Carman, gives new agers equal airtime and actually the opportunity to explain why the "abductees" and non-conspiratorial crowd are wrong. No opportunity is given to the abductees, the legit researchers, or those not espousing conspiracy beliefs to complain about the new agers and "contactees". Instead you get endless stories about benevolent reptilians and light beings from people wearing amulets around their necks, men with long hippie hair, and magnetic bracelets. You even have one idiot with some kind of unified theory of the UFO subject and how they can all be right. Another wants you to believe that it's really our CULTURE and RELIGIONS that have something to offer the universe when we become a "cosmic race". Laughable. I'll explain it to you right now: The new agers are fruit loops who'd be going on about leprechauns or angels if they hadn't gotten into the UFO thing. They are a mixture of opportunists and the insane. You've got your Enoch stuff and your David Icke. Need I say more? Carman: another idiot with no B.S. meter who never should have been given any permission to use the footage from the legit individuals presented here. He should be ostracized and never given any access again. For shame!

Very Decent Documentary
infernal-eternal26 June 2014
This movie is a decent summary of various aspects of alien contact, featuring well-known researchers like Rich Dolan or Linda Moulton Howe, military personnel like Bob Dean or Clifford Stone, Edgar Mitchell (6th man on the Moon), and many others, most of which people interested in this stuff will be familiar with. I've researched these topics for over 20 years, and I can say there's nothing wrong with the information in this movie, and nobody in it is "crazy".

The people writing all those negative reviews are morons so ignorant of the reality they live in that it's really mind-boggling in 2014. I'm actually surprised that there are still so many completely clueless people around. The other option is that they're government shills and are part of the cover-up, which would be nothing strange. After all, 1/10 ratings are usually a sign of a personal agenda rather than an objective assessment of the movie's quality.

The one obvious problem is that the movie is only 80 minutes long and tries to give an overview of a wide range of things, so if you know virtually nothing about aliens (if that's even possible), this would be a lot of information you have no context for, and it won't make much sense to you. Or rather, it doesn't have enough space to provide evidence for everything discussed. If you want an introduction into the topic, look somewhere else. This is more suitable for people who are at least somewhat informed.

The description of the movie already tells you what you'll be hearing about, so I just want to say that the information is not far-fetched in any way and is based on decades of research. For each of the topics mentioned, you can find endless amounts of information on the Internet. There's plenty of research to back up everything that's said here. If you're seriously looking for relevant information, this movie can give you an idea what's out there but doesn't have time to go into much detail on anything specific. It's only one piece of a puzzle. There's only so much you can fit into 80 minutes, but I think this movie delivers what it's supposed to.

Great Documentary
hello-163-53027318 November 2014
I'm keeping this review short. My first comments are to those negative reviews I've read...

You can tell that some of the people here, haven't got a clue to what they're talking about and really out of their depth here. For anyone who hasn't done their research on this subject, quite frankly their opinion doesn't count. Do your research and then come back and watch this film! Learn something else other than believing what you're told by the media. To start with, watch the 2001 disclosure project. Then read a book called the chariot of the gods.

This documentary is a very important part of moving towards disclosure. The Alien agenda is very real. One of the best UFO / Alien agenda documentaries I've seen. Hats off to the makers, excellent job !

You'd be a fool not to believe
glen_perfect_101 January 2015
One of the best documentaries I've ever seen about the alien phenomenon. Packed full of reputable sources: physicists, former CIA agents, astronauts, military personnel, multiple defense ministers from various countries and many more commenting on their own work and experience on the subject, and their first hand accounts.

A lot of this footage is highly correlated with many other shows I've seen on the subject, including testimony from abductees themselves, to testimony from the highly reputable sources.

After seeing this, it's hard not to believe! There's just too many people out there experiencing so many similar experiences. Some people that complain about this documentary are the kinds of people that will believe anything until it happens to them personally, which is extremely closed minded.
