Carole King & James Taylor: Live at the Troubadour provides excellent performances of excellent music
tavm12 August 2011
Just watched on PBS through my local LPB station this reunion concert of two iconic '70s artists at a place they played quite frequently early in their careers. How cool was it seeing Carole King singing such songs of hers like "So Far Away", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?", and "I Feel the Earth Move". Likewise for James Taylor on "Carolina in My Mind", "Fire and Rain", and "Sweet Baby James" before they both dueted on "You've Got a Friend" which Taylor is revealed in an interview as having cut first on his album before Ms. King, who was the writer after all, did it on hers. When she heard James' version, she gave permission for him to release it as a single. It became his only No. 1 single. During the pledge break, the hosts reveal that even more performances are on the DVD version. I don't really need to watch it to say here how excellent the whole thing is but if there's anything else I want to say about it if I ever do see the entire thing, I'll reveal here. So, yeah, that's a recommendation for Carole King & James Taylor: Live at the Troubadour.

The Best of the Best

To accomplished and acclaimed songwriters and musicians at their best together, no resume or review required. Their art speaks volumes for them, in advance. It's a done deal. If you love music, you'll love this, and be singing right along with them while you watch.
