The low rating of this movie is because it has an uncomfortable approach to a theme and it's easy to hate (Like Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2). But wait there is more. Pretty much of the film is bad: Acting, story, characters, script and sound mix. But photography and scene illumination are the worst. You can't see the girl's faces very well sometimes but hey, you can see her boobs very close! I don't know what's the point of the romantic sub-story if girls will hate this movie after 10 minutes. It's more close to a porn film.

I never stop thinking if the movie was used by movie makers as an excuse to touch beautiful girls.

I only see this for the name of Owen Wilson in the poster. But if you see the credits he doesn't appear. I don't think it qualifies as a cameo either. I hope he and the other actors sue this guys for using his name and image.

Recommendations: Waste you're time seeing some grass grow. It's more entertaining.

Anyone who gives this movie more than a one star rating is a paid shrill for the makers of the movie. I went to school with Venables, the writer and actor of this movie... I should be rooting for him, but this movie is absolutely horrible.

No plot, terrible acting, predictable script... wouldn't make it as a B-movie being shown on the TV of a B-movie.

I actually recall 4th grade plays or church plays being better than this.

Sorry Jeff...congrats on getting a movie out into the world from our hometown...but this one is for the trash bin.

As a movie fan, I like to keep track with all the new movie releases, but 20 minutes into this "thing", I already thrown away the DVD and deleted every memory of ever watching "Chick Magnet". If you consider yourself to be person of exquisite taste in what regards movies, you should definitely skip this one, as it is a complete waste of time. Now I desperately want 20 minutes of my life back. The plot is so simple, so stupid, so shallow and so full of low quality acting that it's not worth watching. If you enjoyed this motion picture, I am really sorry for you. Overall, the movie is an absolute 0, but IMDb forces me to rate it a 1.

Phil (Venables) and Jen (Cady) are getting divorced and Phil moves out. When Phil and his friends run into a stranger with a shirt with the power for any man to get any woman he wants they think they have it made. Phil decides to try and use it on his wife. This movie is pretty much exactly what you would expect from the preview. A little bit of a plot and a lot of sex. This movie has the three main characters in any good movie like this. The sensitive guy, the fat dumb guy, and the cocky guy. This is no where near the quality of the "American Pie" movies and is barely watchable. Ten minutes in you can predict the ending. But all this really means nothing. When you watch a movie like this you watch it for one thing. Overall, an OK movie that runs out of laughs at about twenty minutes in. I give it a C.

Would I watch again? - I doubt it.

This movie started out boring me (not funny, not interesting, no characters who were at all likable or developed enough to make me care about them).

Then this movie annoyed me (very poor acting, huge plot holes and amateurishly shot, as though they were using a camcorder, household lamps for lighting and edited it on whatever software came with their discount laptop).

Then this movie made me angry (the big name stars were on screen for ten seconds and appear to have simply been ambushed on a red carpet, plus the entire premise of the movie really is just about "drugging" women with a magic pheromone-covered shirt and literally raping them without the guys ever learning anything or even paying for their crimes).

Seriously, this movie is both completely unfunny, unlikable and not watchable and on top of that it is completely morally bankrupt - and again not even remotely in a funny way. Guys can't even enjoy the movie for the T&A factor because there's only one or two short topless scenes, and even they are boring, unfunny and not titillating at all (again, they are simply raping these women!)

I sincerely hope that every celebrity sued the filmmakers for using their names and likenesses.

None of them are listed here on IMDb so it seems pretty obvious once they started marketing their "movie" using their names, their management/legal teams squashed that pretty quick. Serves them right. It's pretty obvious the guys behind this movie aren't just bad filmmakers, they're bad people.

Hey cool, a movie about the stupefying and raping of women without consequence. Seems like a pretty great premise for a 'comedy'.

I am surprised that the parental guidance review didn't pick up on all the rape. Spike a woman's drink and sleep with her = bad, wear a shirt that magically has the same effect and we are supposed to laugh at this? The movie isn't even subtle about it.

I suffered right the way through to the end of this piece of trash and seriously people, think about what you are laughing at. The makers of this movie were either oblivious or subversive, either way this movie should not see the light of day.

As a movie enthusiast who loves film, old and new, good and bad and all genres, seeing as this was part of the "people who liked this also liked" section on another sex comedy seen recently-Bikini Spring Break just to elaborate, as part of the compulsively terrible The Asylum filmography. That film was very bad too, but was still better than Chick Magnet, which was a chore to sit through and does everything wrong. And just to say to counterpoint the disgustingly ignorant defending reviewers, some people(including myself) did see Chick Magnet with an open mind and do have a sense of humour. You may have found it funny, we didn't, let's call it different tastes and leave it at that okay? I was certainly not Chick Magnet to be a masterpiece but still wanted to see a sense of effort being put into it. Unfortunately the low-budget, especially in the very choppy editing, really shows, if that was one of two or three things wrong with Chick Magnet probably those who genuinely hated the movie(again like myself) would have been more forgiving. When they find that the movie has next to no redeeming qualities at all, forgiving wouldn't be all that easy. Moving onto the other things that Chick Magnet manages to do badly, the soundtrack is not terrible-sounding but is not used very well at all, some of it is just there and doesn't add anything or fit. The dialogue is banal stupidity of the worst kind, with some of the dialogue exchanges enough to make your jaw drop to the floor in embarrassment. The comedy just isn't there, the humour is just forced and inane and the scenes they feature in are badly stretched out- therefore it's lost- and the actors don't do anything to make the comedy come through better. Chick Magnet does have a little plot, but it is a paper thin one and paced poorly, it is also too much of an excuse to string along sex scenes, nudity and comedy. The sex element of Chick Magnet is done with little passion or involvement, very going-through-the-motions. The characters are little more than really shallow stereotypes who don't learn from their mistakes or have any sense of development. The acting is just dire from all the lead roles, apart from Josh Beren who delivers a few mild laughs that the rest of the cast don't achieve. As with a fair few sex comedies the females are attractive in looks, but their talents are not in evidence in the acting stakes. It's also ironic that the names on top of the poster and DVD cover are also those of the actors who are only in the movie for as little as 10-15 seconds and for very little reason. This movie basically ignores the need for a plot.

Things just happen, come from nowhere and doesn't push the story forward.

I can turn my brain off while I watch a movie, but this just keeps going and going and you never really care about what is happening.

Poorly shot, jittery, all over the place.

Don't bother watching.

I have to rate it 10 out of 10, just to counter some of the haters above. If you like movies like national lampoons, and team America etc etc, then you might like this. I hate movies that sound like porno's with moaning and sex scenes trying to skate by as a movie.. but this one can get a pass. yes the movie would have been better without the breast scenes (ok i'm obligated to take that back as bound by a man rule) but anyway, the movie is pretty good for it's funny *lines*.

it's not supposed to be a great acting tear jerker.. it's supposed to be a comedy, and.. it is *funny*! maybe it's a little low budget, but it has hilarious lines that I haven't heard before, and I really appreciate that. This is actually, a good movie, if you can embrace a little corniness which actually adds to it being funny.

i mean really, some people need a better sense of humor. this movie is pretty freaking good.

I didn't hate it, i didn't like it that much either... well i guess it want to be another movie like the national lampoon type(which i like a lot) with boose and sex, yet with a cute story. But this movie have some unbelievable characters its terrible... I didn't got hooked very much, and normally i love to death those college sex, party and boose type of movies. For example i tough at first the army part of the character chuck was actually a joke, some kind of paint ball thing... it felt so wrong...

Anyway.... what can i say, if I found it barely average, lets say most people will hate it and i understand the low rating it got here.

It feels like some of the negative reviewers are trying to compare this movie to the multi-million dollar productions coming out of Hollywood. If that's what you're into, this movie may not be for you. I personally enjoy seeing what independent low/no budget producers can bring to the screen.

Those who say it doesn't have a plot, need to learn what a plot is, it's a bit weak, but no more so that porky's or some other movie of that ilk.

I think Jeff has fallen pray to his own ability to create a really strong trailer, and people are picking it up expecting something it's not.

All that said, if you're looking for something with a little jiggle and some laughs though-out, you might enjoy this movie. The acting is above what I usually see in a low budget production, and the camera/sound work is way above what I would have expected. The weak points are that the plot is thin, though I don't think it's supposed to be otherwise. And the editing is a little choppy. A 200k Hollywood editor could have made a big difference there's lots for someone like that to work with in here. But that again is not what this is.

My rating here is made comparing it to other low budget independents, not Hollywood. If I used those standards, no TV show could measure up either. I love oranges but once in a while I like to have an apple ;)

Watched Chick Magnet with my wife a few days ago and we were both pleasantly surprised. She is definitely not the raunchy comedy type, but I found her laughing aloud throughout(as was I). There is bit of nifty stylized animation here, and I found myself thinking in parts that the camera work was cool in a way I hadn't really seen before.

A few may see objectification of women here, but I think most will find it more along the lines of common harmless adolescent fantasy come to life.

Perhaps a few plot holes along the way, but I'll definitely check out whatever these guys do next.
