The cliffs just keep on hanging!

I'll be honest, the only reason this isn't a 10 is because The Three Armies was a little long winded in its message of cooperation, and perhaps could have delved a bit more into the division between frogs, toads and newts in terms of history. But even so, they got the message across through character interactions.

But 10/10 for The Beginning of the End. I mean WOW did they pull out all the stops for this. Back into that crazy smooth animation for fight sequences, the music being pitch perfect from scene to scene, building up the conflict among the three girls. It's all so well done! I love how Andrius continues to be so (seemingly) fun loving whist being an antagonist. It would be so easy for him to be just menacing, but to do all this with such a goofy tone is amazing.

Also, Anne and Sasha are really showing off the creators' anime influences, and I'm living for it!

Things are heating up so much that it's burning 🔥 (SERIOUS SPOILER WARNING)

Warning: Spoilers
We finally got our Anne and Darcy encounter that we were all waiting for, and I must say. I loved Darcy's fluid animations, the poses, awesome, Anne's reaction, awesome! We also found out what happened to Olivia and Yunan! Now back to Darcy, they tried to kill Anne but it got stalled and she's getting dissected alive instead? The episode then ends with the portal opening to earth as well as the robot factories as well as King Andrias's castle going through the portal as the people of LA are in panic! I did not expect this and it feels so overwhelming! Can't wait for the next episode!

Two Episodes About the Beginning of the Battle
travelertoon10 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Warning this review has spoilers. Another review on Amphibia, this time two segments of the third last episode of this amazing Disney cartoon. One is definitely better than the other one, they're both great. Time to tell my thoughts on these episodes individually. Just to let you know, the group that is led by Anne and Sasha to fight against King Andrias and his forces is called the "Wartwood resistance."

The Three Armies: Anne and Sasha try to get the frogs, newts and toads to work together. Mostly great episode: showing how the 3 amphibian groups don't get along, Anne being a good character who tries to help and learns, Sasha being cool, funny moments and the amphibian groups soon coming up with a plan to defeat Andrias. The issues are it spends too much with the groups fighting with each other, parts feel rushed and compared to other Amphibia episodes, it doesn't stand out on its greatness. For this one only it gets an 8/10.

The Beginning of the End: The Wartwood resistance fights against King Andrias and his forces. Has some issues: Sasha (who was before actively villainous) is a hypocrite towards what Marcy did, some parts like the fight against the robots or the meeting with Darcy feel rushed.

Other than that this is an amazing beginning. From the start to end credits where Marcy is having a sleepover with her friends and watching her favourite movie. Awesome animation scenes like the battles, Anne and Sasha dance fighting and the backgrounds like inside the floating castle. All the characters written greatly from Anne telling Sasha to forgive Marcy, Andrias being a fun villain and Core/Darcy being an intimidating and dangerous villain. Awesome music. The ending where Andrias and the Core are invading earth. This one gets a 9/10.

Conclusion: "The Three Armies" is a great episode about Anne being a leader who gets the frogs, toads and newts to work together; it gets an 8/10. While "The Beginning of the End" was the better episode with many reasons that it's amazing, it gets an 9/10. The scores combined make it an 8.5 but I will just put it as an 8/10. Both of these were great episodes of Amphibia with great storylines. The two finales of Amphibia after; being "All In" and "The Hardest Thing" are even better.
