It’s lucky 13 — as in 13th annual edition — for Switzerland’s Lausanne Underground Film Festival, an epic celebration of cinematic weirdness, violence, filth and everything else that makes life worth living. The wild debauchery runs October 15-19.
The fest opens on Oct. 15 with the feature film debut by Leah Meyerhoff, I Believe in Unicorns, which tells the story of a troubled teenage girl who runs away with an aggressive older boy.
Other new films include the misanthropic comedy Buzzard by Joel Potrykus; the deep woods psychological thriller Mother Nature by Johan Liedgren; the complex Japanese drama Kept by Maki Mizui; and more.
Luff this year is really stuffed with great retrospectives beginning with a tribute to Beth B, who has been churning out controversial, thought-provoking flicks since the New York No Wave era to know. There will be screenings of her classic films, such as The Offenders and Salvation!, and her latest documentary,...

Another Frankenstein-themed flick is coming our way that looks like a nice cheesy sliver of 1980's weirdness, and we have your first look at it right here. That's right, Dreadheads... grab you knives and forks and get ready to tango with Frankenstein's Hungry Dead.
From cult indie director Richard Griffin (The Disco Exorcist, Exhumed, Murder University, Nun of That), look for the flick (also known as Dr. Frankenstein's Wax Museum of the Hungry Dead) on special edition DVD from Wild Eye Releasing in early 2015.
Synopsis
Halloween night 1983: A group of teens break into a wax museum for some fun but instead find a gruesome secret awaiting them deep in the basement. Doctor Frankenstein himself has been piecing together the ultimate monster and creating a small army of the dead with the leftovers. Now, the teenagers must stop Frankenstein and his growing zombie horde or be sewn into the legendary mad doctor's latest masterpiece.

There are perhaps no more prolific actresses out there than horror icon Debbie Rochon. She has a list of credits to her name over 230 movies long and it's always growing. But she recently completed filming her directorial debut, Model Hunger, and can't wait to unleash it on the world.
Model Hunger stars Lynn Lowry, Tiffany Shepis, Carmine Capobianco, Brian Fortune, Michael Thurber, Aurelio Voltaire, Suzi Lorraine, Babette Bombshell, Geri Horn and Jayne Caswell. Rochon also enlisted the talents of well-known composer Henry Manfredini (who did extensive work on the Friday the 13th series) and a crew that she described as the best of the best for creating Model Hunger.
With such an extensive acting career, one wonders why Rochon never directed in the past as she's been in the entertainment business for most of her adult life. What finally triggered that desire to get her working on the other side of the camera?...

It's Friday, and do you know what that means? Yep! It's exclusive time! On tap is a clip from Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That).
Director Richard Griffin (Nun of That, The Disco Exorcist) believes, "Exhumed marks a real change of pace, not only for us, but for modern horror in general. There are no tricks, no gimmicks, no CGI fakery, but a return to classic storytelling. I am quite proud of the level of performances in this movie, which are only matched by the sheer originality and power of the screenplay by Guy Benoit. I think audiences will be quite disturbed by the events that take place in the film."

Michael Thurber, from Griffin’s previous project Murder University, is Dr. Frankenstein, and the cast also includes Jamie Lyn Bagley, Jesse Dufault, Shannon Hartman, Johnny Sederquist, Aurora Grabill, Patrick Keeffe, Aaron Peaslee, Christopher Ferreira, Nat Sylva, Ryan Hanley, Beatriz Lopez and Andre Boudreau. Eric Rodrigues and Jordan Pacheco created the makeup FX.
“For my 13th feature,” Griffin says, “I decided to go back to my roots and make a small, atmospheric, Euro-tinged horror film in the vein of one of my idols, Jess Franco. I was so lucky to find this amazing location [Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery] in Salem, Ma. Female filmmakers in the sci-fi and fantasy genre will be celebrated with the first ever Etheria Film Festival, to be held in September 2012.
Etheria is the brainchild of film journalist Heidi Honeycutt and the Viscera Organisation, a not-for-profit group dedicated to increasing the visibility of female genre filmmakers.
Last month, the Viscera Film Festival Carpet Ceremony put the spotlight on up-and-coming women directors in the horror genre with a programme of new short films and a celebrity judging panel of industry veterans.
A Viscera spokeswoman said: "The Viscera Film Festival has been showcasing the best in emerging female horror film talent since 2007.
"But why stop with horror? There are talented women filmmakers across every genre. The Etheria Film Festival is the only film festival in the world that screens, exclusively, the best new short science fiction and fantasy films directed by women from around the globe."

One film we're looking forward to checking out is Richard Griffin's Exhumed, which has a real retro vibe thanks to its black & white palette, and if you happen to live in or near Foxboro, Massachusetts, you can beat us to the punch when the flick premieres on November 11th. In honor of the occasion the filmmakers have sent us a trio of new stills to share.
From the Press Release:
Scorpio Film Releasing, comprised of New England's premier genre filmmakers, is proud and excited to announce the world premiere of its newest, darkest, most beautifully unsettling feature to date: Exhumed.
Different from the acclaimed genre fare Scorpio Film Releasing is known for, Exhumed is a terrifying fairy tale centered in the repulsive recesses of humanity. Loneliness, solitude, fear, and longing lead an unlikely group of housemates to the darkest edges of life and death.

Exhumed is an edgy horror film from Scorpio Film Releasing which deals with a twisted family that is seemingly unable to leave their own home. Their gnarled existence and mounting animosity finally gives way to violence and visceral panic. Check out the trailer below for this very unique looking film which is very reminiscent of a David Lynch style film. Exhumed is director Richard Griffin's attempt "to move away from current, more supernatur…...

Heralded by adjectives like "unique," "original," and other words to describe how different this film is from modern horror fare, comes Exhumed . This is a decidedly different approach to the genre for director Richard Griffin who brought us Nun of That and The Disco Exorcist and it stars Debbie Rochon, Sarah Nicklin, Michael Reed, Michael Thurber, Rich Tretheway, Evalena Marie and Jonathan Thomson. I'm not ready to start waxing poetic about how "different" this looks because, honestly, it doesn't. Stylistically, it may be a departure for the guy who directed Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon . But every director has to mature, right? A trailer and a poster are here and we're sharing them with you below. Here's how it's being described...

It's been a while since we've gotten an update on Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That); but that's all about to change. Today we have for you the film's new poster and trailer along with a couple of stills.

Remember last week when I was whining incessantly about not having a trailer for Richard Griffin’s upcoming horror endeavor “Exhumed”? Apparently someone was listening to my rants, as this week we’ve been sent the official preview, which you can find lurking suspiciously below. Griffin, of course, is the director behind such the cult flicks “Necroville”, “The Disco Exorcist”, and, my personal favorite, “Nun of That”. “Exhumed” looks to be a little different than his previous efforts, though this hasn’t diluted my excitement one nasty little bit. Richard Griffin has made a lot of badass movies, including the 2009 horror/comedy “Nun of That”, which also happens to be my favorite. Not one to rest on his cinematic laurels for too long, Griffin is already preparing to unleash his latest genre-oriented endeavor “Exhumed”. Sadly, there isn’t a trailer to pimp as of this writing, though I’m hoping that issue will be resolved as the film’s premiere grows closer. Speaking of which, if you’re going to be in or around Foxboro, Ma on November 11th, swing by the screening and check things out. I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about The Orpheum Theater, so be sure to rub it in my face that you attended. Bastard! Before continuing, perhaps you should read this: Exhumed is an edgy horror film. It anticipates a move away from current, more supernaturally inclined fear flicks, towards something nastier and moodier.

Earlier this year we told you about Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That). This week Scorpio Film Releasing dropped us a line to let us know the film has wrapped production and provided us with three new stills.
Exhumed marks Sfr's 10th feature, their others including Nun of That, Atomic Brain Invasion, Disco Exorcist, Beyond the Dunwich Horror, and more. Producer Marr says that "even though we are early in the process, from looking at the raw footage, I strongly suspect that this will be our best work to date. Certainly the best technically."
Director Griffin further explains that "Exhumed is a major change of pace for us. Guy Benoit's amazing screenplay is not filled with the typical "Things That Go Bump In The Night" creatures like vampires,...
