In this first episode, pet psychologist with a secret, Dr. Marsha Mayright, needs a fitting test case for her upcoming book. After interviewing various dogs at the park, she chooses to help camera-phobic Vita, and her indecisive owner, Junie. And so the hilarious seven episode search for a "vita bella" -- sometimes wacky, sometimes sublime -- begins.

The Pup-arazzo, trying to convince Junie and Dr. Marsha that Vita is to be the New Pup on the Block, interviews other dogs, and a neurotic squirrel, for an audition tape for the TMZ-style show PetScan. Dr. Marsha is so rattled by his plans that she lets slip her biggest secret -- one that potentially could make her more famous than Vita.

Junie (Meeshelle Neal) and Dr. Marsha (Debra Sears) argue over the Pup-arazzo's (Gregory Schoen) plan to make himself, Vita, and perhaps Dr. Marsha, famous. Dr. Marsha again lets her secret slip. Vita disappears and after a Monkees-style search, and some information from the dog-phobic squirrel, they find her communing with nature and the mysterious Bow-wowist (Kasey Ryne Mazak). Things are getting weird!

Dr. Marsha talks with the intense bow-wowist about his connection with Vita and his intentions to take her back to the monastery. In exchange, the bow-wowist teaches Dr. Marsha how to breathe deeply. He then convinces Junie she'd make a good bow-wowist, and takes an opportunity to escape with Vita. Will he succeed? Or will Junie finally embrace her "true Junie-ness" and power, and with the help of that sexy Scooter Guy, get Vita back? The chase is on!

After a strange dream, Dr. Marsha spends time with Vita and Junie at the beach. Dr. Marsha tells the documentary filmmaker that she is reconsidering her career and life choices. Eventually we see whether she can truly embrace her own 'vita bella,' and we find out what happens to everyone in the finale to the seven episode Vita Bella: The Dogumentary.
