The movie was shot in only thirteen days.
The rocking chair with a dead Ms. Joy was the first thing that Russell wrote in the film.
Two houses were used for the sorority; one being a bed-and-breakfast hotel (where all the cast and crew would sleep at) which happened to be adjacent to the main house that Russell and his crew was renting out and making the movie in. Several shots - of certain locations - were also done at the same hotel.
The telephone picture in the opening title sequence was taken long after the film had wrapped. According to the commentary, Justin admired the intro to the horror movie "Alice Sweet Alice" that he put his own spin on the movie's intro and paid homage to that movie.
The killer's place was actually in the basement of the same sorority house, where the movie was being shot. All of the killer's scenes were shot in a three-to-four hour long period, according to Russell.
