I enjoyed very much this journey in the Vosges: so many nice places and so many interesting activities.
With the photographer Andréa Brodkorb we discover the landscapes with their differents lights and colors. With Jim Petit we discover the sounds of the nature: Jim records the sounds at the lake of Altenweiher and then organizes sounds walks in the forest near Mittlach.
In the forest we meet Julien Meyer, a woodcutter who is taking care for the forest (cutting a sick spruce tree): he is also fond of sports logging: with his friend Loïc Voinson they are training for a logging competition.
Then we discover the "Route des Crêtes": a road where Alain Bredat, an old cars driver, enjoys the landscapes. But also hikers are walking along the road and stop in the inns where they eat the traditional bacon and bergkasse (mountain cheese).
Besides Laurent Cahon goes with the tourists to the "Col de Schlucht" to see the chamois which have been reintroduced in the Vosges.
At Hartmannswillerkopf the guide Gilbert Wagner explains the battle between French and German soldiers and they can visit the trenches and the cemetery.
Now some words about interesting professions in the Vosges: David Spenner is making "tiny houses" using the local woods: Clélie Bagard, a carpenter lives in one of these tny houses and has solar panels for the energy supply.
Alain Carbonare , a luthier of Mirecourt, is observing the spruces in the forest because he makes violins with the spruce wood: his son Antoine Carbonare is also a luthier.
Nicolas Thomas is collecting branchs of fir to produce in his distillery essential oil of fir that later is used in aromatherapy or confectionery.
At Plainfaing there is the "Confiserie des Hautes Vosges": Fabienne Picard explains that they produce the true "bonbons des Vosges": Pascal George shows how is making the candies with sugar, essential oil of fir and menthol.
At Gérardmer the Company Garnier-Thiebaut is producing household linen that is sold the hotels in many countries.
At Meisenthal we meet glass blowers: Mathilde Caylou is making Christmas ornaments and Jean-Marc Schilt is working with artists.
At the Manufacture de Saint-Louis the glass blowers produce crystal glasses products such as lamps
At Vannes le Châtel there is the "Centre Européen de recherches et de formation aux arts verriers" where young students learn to blow glass and to create glass items.
Again some words about tourism in the Vosges: Yves Fessler drives hot air ballons.
The members of the "Club Vosgien" are taking care for the hiking paths in the Vosges and Pierre Mengin organizes bike tour in the forests.
I enjoyed the encounters of Jérôme with Christophe Lerouge (paragliding at the Ballon d'Alsace and the visit of the "Bol d'Air at La Bresse), with Emil Leroy-Jönsson (the nordic cabins), with Nicolas Lombach (distillery Nusbaumer), with Frédéric Metzger , the chef , with Julie Prévost and Dorian Roche at the castle of Lutzelbourg, with the Deybach family at the "Auberge du Schnepfenried", with Lydie Barbaux, the mayor of Plombières-les-Bains (Thermes Napoléon, the terraced gardens and the Théâtre du Peuple), with Simon Deletang (the story of the theater), with Laurent Régis , the manager of the "Bol d'Air" and with Laurent Mougel the zip line manager: very nice encounters with very nice Vosges men and women.
