Scars started life as a homework assignment. On the first week of a screen-writing course at Raindance in London, Martin Walton took two newspaper stories and combined them to form the basis of a screenplay. Several "what if's" later and Scars was the product submitted for marking the following week.
The speed camera was made for the production using pieces of plumbing pipe, plastic board and an old high-vis vest. It attracted a lot of interest from local drivers who thought it was real and slowed down accordingly.
