-Comments of the director about this film: - "My first short film "The Bench" shot in summer 2009 over a period of 4 days, with an old 1957 16mm Bolex (film). Not easy to shoot with film, I couldn't see the dailies for months... reshoot impossible; the camera was in 4:3 ratio... I edited the film in 16:9 which caused framing problems; the camera was cranked (no motor). .. maximum shots 20sec; when watching the rushes... each shot had a flash of light on the first and last seconds... precious images were lost; I shot without a light meter (because it was too expensive)... I kept an aperture of 4, 5.6 or 8 depending on the time of day; we only took one shot per scene... rarely two (because of the cost of the film; etc... etc...). Finally, after having accomplished some little miracles in the editing (color grading, moving the images in the 16:9 frame, inverting images to compensate for the lack of some inserts, slowing down to lengthen some shots, zoom in, zoom out, adding sounds and music...) it really started to give something interesting."
