A very sad but true fiction
RodrigAndrisan6 June 2016
Romania, a country of thieves, a corrupt country drowning in poverty after the importation of communism that lasted 45 years, the worst experiment in human history, and continue in a most vicious form after 1989. The action takes place in a cursed village (as any place in Romania) where you can be killed because the guilty is not getting into the hands of justice. It's the last film of Serban Ionescu, a Romanian very special actor that can express feelings without a word, only with body language (here he plays a mute). Valentin Teodosiu, as usual, is good in a role of a cop who takes bribes. "And God was scared of those bastards!" (referring to those who lead Romania), is the best replica of the film, said by Marcela's Mother, played by Ecaterina Nazare. "Comes the Flood!" is yelling another character and, indeed, comes over everyone, not only over Romania. And the church is made of dust, is demolished (to me is a symbol in the film), demolished not only literally, but spiritually.
