- Lana Lang Cushing: Then why are you telling me all this? So I can play along with that cover story, lie to everybody to help keep them calm?
- Lois Lane: There have been moments in my life and in my career where I have withheld facts from people because I thought it would protect them more than it would hurt them. Sometimes that was the right thing to do, and sometimes it wasn't. I am telling you all this so that you are armed with the truth. As mayor of this town and all the people in it who you love, it's up to you to decide what to do with it.
- Kyle Cushing: Well, you did it, Lana. I mean, that entire room was set to go off, and, uh, you played it exactly right.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Well, I did have a little help.
- Kyle Cushing: You looked like a mayor to me.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Um, I'm gonna go track Sarah down, and then let's meet at home, okay?
- Kyle Cushing: Yeah, I'll see you there.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Bye, sweets!
- Sophie Cushing: Bye, Mom!
- Lana Lang Cushing: I'll see you very soon.
- Sophie Cushing: See you!
- [as Lana heads back into the school, her Bizarro counterpart lands outside with Bizarro Jonathan]
- Superman: [they hear him from inside] We should get going, check in on John Henry and Natalie.
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: [speaking backwards] They're here.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: [the townspeople don't believe Lana about Earth and Bizarro Earth merging] The problem here is obvious. Our mayor doesn't have any real answers; just the frightened talk of someone who's in way over her head.
- Kyle Cushing: You better stop right there, George!
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Why, so I can listen to more garbage about worlds melding and scary doppelgangers knockin' at my door? No, I think we've heard enough. We need answers from someone we can trust.
- Superman: Maybe I can help with that.
- Jordan Kent: [quietly to get her attention] Hey. Sarah.
- [leading her a few feet away with Jon]
- Jordan Kent: Are you okay?
- Sarah Cushing: I don't know. It's all kind of crazy. I mean, that's Superman.
- Lois Lane: Dad, you okay?
- General Sam Lane: They took down Ally's two best acolytes, but we still have no idea how to stop her from merging the worlds, and we've lost contact with John Henry. I'd feel a lot better if we got you to a secure location.
- Clark Kent: With all due respect, Sam, I think we're gonna take Lana's advice. Go home and be with the people we love.
- Lois Lane: Come with us.
- General Sam Lane: DOD's got a few more cards to play, and I can do a better job of calling shots if I'm in headquarters. Be safe, pumpkin. Keep those boys close. They're not so bad in a fight.
- Lana Lang Cushing: What do you think is better, knowing something terrible is gonna happen or not knowing and being able to live without all that worry weighing you down?
- Kyle Cushing: Wow, um, jeez.
- Lana Lang Cushing: I know. I just... I don't have anyone else to talk to about this.
- Kyle Cushing: Oh, no, no, no. No, look. I'm... I'm happy that you called me. I am. I wouldn't want you to have to deal with this alone.
- Lana Lang Cushing: I just don't know what to do.
- Kyle Cushing: Well, look, I guess I would ask who it is that you're trying to protect by not telling the truth, 'cause, you know, most people, they can handle that. But it is difficult being the one telling the truth when the truth isn't good.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Mm-hmm. Is that why you didn't tell me about Tonya, 'cause it's easier?
- Kyle Cushing: Partly, yeah, and also because I was ashamed of myself. You know, I know what I was doing was wrong. But it's like you have this secret, and you keep it there long enough, it starts to feel like it never happened, like this lie that you created for yourself is somehow actually the truth.
- Lana Lang Cushing: But you had to know I was gonna find out eventually.
- Kyle Cushing: Yeah. Everyone always finds out eventually.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Yeah.
- Kyle Cushing: But you gotta be brave enough to tell 'em when it actually matters. I didn't. But I suspect you are.
- Sarah Cushing: You knew, didn't you? You knew that Jordan had powers. You didn't even flinch when you saw him. His eyes, the way that he... you've known for a while.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Sarah...
- Sarah Cushing: And when you disappeared for six hours, you didn't go for a walk. You were covering for something, because the next day, it felt like you were gonna tell me something, but you just pulled away. That's when you found out, isn't it?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Yeah.
- Sarah Cushing: Why didn't you just tell me?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Because I wanted you to have a normal life.
- Sarah Cushing: That's bull, Mom. Jordan said some of the decisions aren't his to make. I know him. I know he's been wanting to tell me something, and this is it, isn't it? Mom, I broke up with him! I wouldn't if I... you should've just told me!
- Lana Lang Cushing: [following her into the house] Sarah!
- Kyle Cushing: [coming out on the phone] Tamera, we gotta be the face of calm, okay?
- Sarah Cushing: It would've made a difference!
- Lana Lang Cushing: Sarah!
- Kyle Cushing: Mija, hey, what's going on?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Just let me handle this.
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: [easily defeating the powerless Superman] Come on, at least put up a fight.
- Jonathan Kent: Leave him alone!
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: What are you gonna do, cry about it?
- [as Sam draws his gun, Bizarro Jonathan uses his freeze vision on it, causing Sam to drop it]
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: Too slow in both worlds, Gramps.
- Lois Lane: [after Bizarro Lana attacked the farm] I came as soon as I heard. Are you okay?
- Jordan Kent: Yeah, I'm fine, except for almost letting Dad get killed.
- Lois Lane: That is not your fault.
- Jonathan Kent: Yeah, at least you have powers to help.
- Jordan Kent: Yeah, well, that almost makes it worse. You were out there. She totally kicked my ass.
- Lois Lane: Jordan, it is not your job to protect your dad from people with powers.
- Jordan Kent: Yeah, well, it's a good thing, 'cause I can't.
- Jonathan Kent: None of us can.
- Jordan Kent: What if she comes back? What are we gonna do?
- Superman: I hope by now you all know me as a friend. It's as a friend that I've come here to assure you that your mayor is telling you the truth about everything, and that does not mean that all is lost. I saw what this town was capable of last year, the way you all protected each other. And I know you can do it again. That starts by listening to your leader. Because I know she is here for you, not to serve her own interest.
- [yielding the floor]
- Superman: Mayor?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Everyone, the best thing you can do is get home. Surround yourself with your families. Beware of anyone who doesn't seem like themselves. The people from this other world may look just like us, but they have a very different agenda. Stay by the people you love, and we will get through this together.
- Lois Lane: [surviving an assault from Bizarro Lana and Bizarro Jonathan] You guys okay?
- Jonathan Kent: Relative to what?
- Clark Kent: You did real good.
- Jordan Kent: It's Nat that saved us.
- Lois Lane: Where is Nat?
- Jordan Kent: [hearing an ELT-like warbling] Found her.
- Clark Kent: That's twice you've saved my life now.
- Natalie Irons: You know, when you guys invited my dad and me to stay with you, I thought it was a mistake. And when we moved out, I was so stoked to have our own place, and now here we are. It's the end of the world, and I'm sitting here because I don't know where else to go.
- Clark Kent: It's not the end of the world.
- Lois Lane: You can always stay with us, sweetie, as long as you want.
- Natalie Irons: I can't locate my dad. His signal's lost, and I just have this feeling like I'm never gonna see him again.
- Lois Lane: Nat... your dad is a hero. I know it's scary right now. But I know that he is out there fighting for us. I promise you. So you gotta believe that he's gonna come back. I do.
- Lois Lane: [as Earth and Bizarro Earth merge] What happened to our home?
- Clark Kent: This isn't our home. It's their house from the other Earth.
- Natalie Irons: All right. X-K reinforced. We're good to go.
- A.I. Device: Sir, shall I power up the suits?
- John Henry Irons: No. Just mine. Initiate protocol vapor lock.
- Natalie Irons: [a light in the visor of her suit flares] You safeguarded my suit?
- John Henry Irons: Sorry, Bug. You're not comin'.
- Natalie Irons: Dad, don't do this.
- John Henry Irons: Listen to me. I'm gonna go through that portal. I'm gonna stop Ally, fix this, and I will be right back.
- Natalie Irons: Last time you said that, I lost you for six months.
- John Henry Irons: This time, it is different. I'm not leaving you alone. You got a family here; you know, the boys, Lois, Clark. They need you. Ally isn't gonna stop until Superman is dead. So you have to be there to protect them while I'm gone.
- A.I. Device: Sir, your suit is at maximum power, though kinetic hammer charge will require more time.
- John Henry Irons: Leave the hammer. Arm missiles and prepare for launch.
- A.I. Device: Missiles armed. No eyewitnesses in the vicinity; you are clear.
- Natalie Irons: Dad, please.
- John Henry Irons: Your suit's on a timer. Ten minutes, then you'll be mobile. By then, I should be through the portal. Help me by staying on comms and guiding me back. We're still a team, Bug. We always will be.
- Sarah Cushing: All this stuff about two worlds and what might happen, it's just all so crazy.
- Jordan Kent: You don't know the half of it.
- Sarah Cushing: So this is why you're all so distracted?
- Jordan Kent: Some of the reason, yeah.
- Sarah Cushing: Jordan, why didn't you just tell me?
- Jordan Kent: I wanted to, but it's not always my decision.
- Sarah Cushing: Well, I can handle it. Whatever it is, I-I can handle it.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Sarah.
- Sarah Cushing: Oh.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Come on. We gotta get home.
- Sarah Cushing: Okay, uh...
- [seeing Bizarro Lana appear behind Jordan]
- Sarah Cushing: Oh, my God.
- Jordan Kent: Run.
- Sarah Cushing: What are you doing? You can't...
- Jordan Kent: [his heat vision flaring up] *RUN*!
- Superman: You're not gonna hurt my family.
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: [laughing] What are you gonna do about it? You don't have powers.
- General Sam Lane: Son, you don't have to do this.
- Lois Lane: You are better than this.
- Bizarro Jonathan Kent: No, not yet, but I will be. You know, all of us will. Except you. That's the irony, isn't it? If my dad were alive, you two could've merged. You could've fixed him. You could've made him whole. But I guess since he's dead, you might as well be, too.
- Lois Lane: Everyone in town is terrified. You can see it in their faces, that fear of the unknown.
- Clark Kent: How'd Lana react when you told her?
- Lois Lane: Overwhelmed. I think she's just trying to figure out what to tell people at the town hall.
- Clark Kent: She shouldn't have to be dealing with this.
- Lois Lane: She's mayor now. She's gonna have to make some tough choices.
- Clark Kent: Yeah, and I'm Superman. I'm supposed to keep people safe.
- Lois Lane: Okay. Then do that.
- Clark Kent: How? I mean, what am I supposed to do? I-I've never been like this.
- Lois Lane: You are more than just your powers.
- Clark Kent: People look to me to save them.
- Lois Lane: No, people look to you for hope. That's what Superman does. He inspires. You inspire me and the boys every day, and it's not because you can fly or because you're strong. It's because of your heart.
- Clark Kent: I don't want to give people false hope.
- Lois Lane: That's not what I'm saying. The world needs you. You're Superman. Be Superman.
- Lana Lang Cushing: We're trying to save lives, George.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Seems to me that job's best left to Superman, Ms. Mayor. Unless... unless you're planning on flying in and saving the day.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Superman's not coming.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: What's that now?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Superman has lost his powers, and he will not be coming to save us today.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Well, that's convenient. I suppose that means we have to rely on you to save us.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Everyone, what I have to tell you is hard to believe. That red sun in our sky, I'm afraid it's real.
- Aidy Manning: So they did lie to us?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Yeah, and I don't wanna do that. I want you all to be prepared for the crisis that we are all facing. As I understand it, there is another world like ours, an inverse world. And that red sun in our sky is their sun.
- [as the townspeople react]
- Lana Lang Cushing: I know. I know. Just let me finish. And there is something that wants to combine our world with theirs. And soon... soon, you are gonna see people from that other world; doppelgangers, 'kay? And I need you to understand that you must avoid them at all costs.
- Chuck Arden: Doppelgangers? The hell are you talking about?
- Lana Lang Cushing: It's a lot, but you have to trust me.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Trust you?
- Chrissy Beppo: She's telling the truth.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Then why haven't you published any of this in your paper?
- Lana Lang Cushing: Because I asked Chrissy not to. I wanted you all to hear it from me first.
- Ex-Mayor George Dean: Well, it sounds like you two are in cahoots.
- Lana Lang Cushing: Sarah.
- Sarah Cushing: What?
- Lana Lang Cushing: We are not finished. We need to talk.
- Sarah Cushing: No! I don't wanna talk to you!
- Lana Lang Cushing: Then you better listen. Because that secret you learned is important in ways you don't understand, and I need you to promise you will not say anything to anyone.
- Sarah Cushing: What are you talking about? I...
- [the room flickers like a TV]
- Sarah Cushing: Mom? Mom, what's... what's happening?
- Chrissy Beppo: It's our job to warn people.
- Lois Lane: It's not our job to create panic.
- Chrissy Beppo: We don't get to curate the news. And we can't determine how people will react. All we can do is report what we know, and we have to do it now.
