Wondering how all the DC universe TV spin-offs, crossovers and webseries fit together? We have the answer...
In October 2012, Us network The CW launched the first season of Arrow, after wrapping up no fewer than ten seasons of Superman origin show Smallville a year before. Arrow was a completely new take on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, in a new universe that had nothing to do with Smallville or its version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The series proved quite the hit for The CW, and a second season renewal inevitably followed. In season two, we were introduced to forensic scientist Barry Allen, better known to DC Comics readers as The Flash. Arrow got a third season, The Flash got his own TV show with great success, and the live action shared DC Comics universe on TV was born. And with it the question: how does it all fit together?...

Parades and pigskin aside, there wasn't much happening on television during the week of Thanksgiving. But for the past seven days? The box has been overstuffed. While various series are racing toward their seasonal end games, the networks have begun trotting out some early holiday diversions, hoping to capitalize on the viewers who are already eager to surround themselves with mistletoe and holly. There were even a few premieres last week, including a sneak preview of NBC's new sitcom Superstore, the return of Bravo's Top Chef, and a single-episode sneak-peek...

This week on The CW’s Arrow, onetime Starling City vigilante Ted Grant landed in Oliver’s sights, while Roy came to believe that it was he who killed Sara. But first and foremost….
We got the Boxing Glove Arrow. Which obviously must be what showrunner Marc Guggenheim was teasing during this Q&A, about delivering a moment that fans have been asking about since the pilot. Of course, Arrow being the gritty superhero drama it is, having a glove “accordion” out of an arrow would be a bit goofy, so they instead orchestrated an “organic” way for it to come about,...

The mystery of who killed Sara Lance is continuing to deepen on "Arrow."
Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) recently has had trouble sleeping, and had a dream that he could be behind the death of Laurel Lance's sister, something that will be explored on this week's episode, titled, "Guilty."
With Laurel (Katie Cassidy) training in the gym with Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez) and suggesting in the trailer that she wants to avenge her sister's death, AccessHollywood.com took our questions about what's next to Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim.

Some bad news for Cuba Gooding Jr, now that it has been reported that Fox has officially dropped his potential legal series, Guilty, despite strong test scores that the show's pilot got. As Tambay reported last summer (Here) the series would have toplined Gooding as a "brilliant, morally questionable defense attorney who, after being falsely convicted of fraud and stripped of his legal license, uses his unorthodox methods to solve the cases he’s been prohibited from handling, and to ultimately exact revenge on the man who set him up." Sharon Leal was also cast as Gooding's wife in the pilot, but her option was not picked up, leaving some...

Fox has officially passed on Greg Berlanti's pilot Guilty, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The one-hour drama project, initially developed for series consideration for the 2012-13 season before being mulled for a possible fall 2013 addition, centered on a smart, ethically questionable defense attorney who used his unique methods to solve cases he's been banned from handling after being stripped of his law license. Cuba Gooding Jr., Jay Harrington, Eva Amurri Martino and Julian Morris starred in the project from Warner Bros. TV, Bonanza Productions, Berlanti Productions and Wonderland Sound and Vision. After missing the cut in May, Fox kept Guilty in consideration, and the studio behind it, Warner Bros. Stephen Amell is playing a Queen. Oliver Queen, to be precise, in the new CW action series Arrow. And while initial jokes about the character’s name may be juvenile, viewers will see in the pilot episode that this is not a kid’s comic book series. (Be warned, the Queen jokes are going to be coming much too easily.)
Based on the popular DC Comics character, Amell plays a billionaire playboy who had been written off as dead but returns very much alive with not only a jaw-dropping torso but with mystery shrouding what happened on the island where he had been living for five years. What we do know is that instead of all-night clubbing and partying he once indulged in, Queen is now focused on fighting crime (some possibly within his own family) and, bow and arrow in hand, dons a costume to become Arrow.

James Van Der Beek's assistant, Luther, is one of the unsung heroes of "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," so it's only fitting that Ray Ford has been upped to a series regular for Season 2 of the snarky comedy. More screen time for this guy is definitely a good thing. [THR]

Exclusive: Legal drama pilot Guilty is staying in contention at Fox as the studio behind it, Warner Bros. TV, has moved on to extend the options on four actors, including star Cuba Gooding Jr. Pilots that are kept alive post-upfronts after missing the cut to series are usually put in midseason consideration. Greg Berlanti entered the upfronts as the producer with the most pilots this year — four — in his first development season at Warner Bros. TV. Two of them, the CW’s Arrow and CBS’ Golden Boy, went to series, while a third, Fox legal drama Guilty, has a solid shot at a midseason order. Additionally, Berlanti has cable series Political Animals launching on USA this summer. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage‘s Fake Empire also netted two new broadcast series orders. The company went 2-for-2 with its two pilots, the CW’s The Carrie Diaries and Cult, to increase its primetime portfolio to four series next season, including returning CW dramas Gossip Girl and Hart Of Dixie, and tie the Mark Gordon Co. as the pods with the most broadcast shows on the air. The broadcast networks left an uncharacteristically small number of pilots in midseason contention this year. The strongest among them is the Fox drama Guilty starring Cuba Gooding Jr, who tested very high. The network picked up only two new drama series for next season, making a third order a possibility despite limited shelf space. Magical procedural Gotham still has a pulse at ABC and also is exploring a potential cable play. There are several pilots that are dead but their concepts are not: ABC comedy Only Fools And Horses, based on a British series and which is a favorite of ABC boss Paul Lee, will likely be redeveloped. Ditto for American Judy as ABC brass love star Judy Greer and the fish-out-of-water premise of her pilot this year and are looking to develop a new vehicle for her in that vein. The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the second announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on Fox.
Former stalwart "House" is done, last year's two new high-concept dramas "Terra Nova” and “Alcatraz" fizzled, and ratings juggernaut "American Idol" saw quite a precipitous drop-off this past season. Yet the Murdoch network remains robust with last year's successful launch of "New Girl" and "The X Factor" helping cover up the deficiencies. The new schedule boasts two important elements - another attempt to launch a four show comedy block on Tuesdays despite failed attempts in the past, and the move of "Glee" to the prestigious (but competitive) Thursday 9pm slot.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen including the spy-as-a-photojournalist thriller "The Asset", the Cuba Gooding Jr.-led legal drama...

Because "The X Factor" takes up so much time on Fox's fall schedule, and because the Sunday animation block doesn't really change from year to year, the network doesn't have a ton of room to place new shows or otherwise make over its lineup. But we have a feeling the network is going to do just that this year.
Throughout pilot season, we've heard talk about how Fox wants to expand its live-action comedy roster, with Tuesday nights -- already home to "New Girl" and "Raising Hope" -- being the most likely place for a full night of half-hour shows. Our proposed schedule reflects that, pairing the two returning shows with a pair of newbies.
That means "Glee" could be headed for a new night, and in the world where we run Fox, a new part of the season as well. A logical spot for it in the fall would...

The rest of the broadcast networks will follow suit next week when we will start getting a better picture of how the contenders for a spot on the schedule for next season stack up. For now, here is what I have been hearing on the various pilots based on early reactions: The only mystery surrounding the Untitled Kevin Williamson project at Fox seems to be where it will land on the Fox schedule and whether it would launch in the fall or midseason. Every year, the five major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox and NBC) order pilots to be considered for the fall season. A pilot, as you may know, is the first episode of a TV series and the final step in a long development process from idea to screen.
From the 87 drama and comedy pilots ordered this year, a new crop of television shows will be selected -- and I read the scripts for each and every one of them. Over the course of this week, I'm walking you through the network's pilot slates, offering a bit of analysis on their present schedules and providing you with a rundown of the drama contenders. (Plus, a little bit of info about the comedies, too.) Of course, not all of these shows will find their way to your TV set -- in fact, most of them you may never hear of again.

If the broadcast development season were a reality competition show, we would now be in the final round where some 85 pilots are battling for spots on next season’s schedule. And while the winners won’t be known until the upfronts in May, here are the overachievers in the pilot stage of the competition. Greg Berlanti — he killed it in his first development season at his new (old) studio home, Warner Bros. Television. Berlanti and his company Berlanti Prods. sold five projects to the broadcast networks. Four of them netted pilot orders: Guilty at Fox written by Marc Guggenheim, an Nicholas Wootton-written drama at CBS, Arrow at the CW, penned by Berlanti, Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, and a comedy at CBS written by Berlanti and Greg Malins. And if that’s not enough, while working on his broadcast development Berlanti found time to write a cable spec, Political Animals,...

USA will delve into politics this summer with a six-episode miniseries called "Political Animals."
The project comes from writer-producer Greg Berlanti ("Brothers & Sisters," "Everwood") and producer Laurence Mark ("Julie & Julia," "Jerry Maguire") and is USA's first limited-run series (or "event series," in the preferred network parlance) since "The Starter Wife."
It will center on Elaine Barrish, the current secretary of state and former first lady who in addition to her official duties is attempting to keep her family together after a divorce. (Any resemblance to real-life former first lady turned Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is probably not entirely coincidental.) Well-known Washington journalist Susan Berg -- who has spent a good portion of her own career gunning for Elaine -- becomes an unlikely ally in Elaine's efforts to keep above water.
Casting has yet to begin, but USA is aiming for a summer premiere date for the show. "Political Animals...
