Not every economic migrant from the former USSR...

Should feel obligated to pretend that they are artists. There is a certain class-distinction masquerade that is required of Russian expatriates in the West. If they're not talented novelists, ballerinas, academics, models, or espionage agents, then film is one of the forms left over.

Unfortnately, this film plays like a post-office worker and a "perennial-studies" pot-head major decided to make make something with Central-Eastern European pseudo-profundity.

... only but forgot the "meaning" part.

If only ex-Soviet auteurs would focus less on extremism and more on authenticity, we would all be better off.
