Sex & Nudity

  • There is a short kissing scene between a man and a woman. This scene is not inherently sexual, however it heavily implies that a male protagonist engages in extramarital sex on a regular basis.
  • Several naked dead women are shown in one scene, but they lack any sort of detail.
  • Almost no nudity or sexual content. A couple instances of mild innuendo and speculations involving rape.
  • Brief (non-sexual) male nudity in one episode. Only buttocks shown.
  • In the first episode a prepubescent girl is shown naked in a room covered in worms, her grandfather says to another character that "she has been violated on every part of her body" implying she has been raped.

Violence & Gore

  • A character intentionally breaks another character's finger by bending it until it cracks. It is shown and bone cracking can be heard.
  • A man is tortured by being shot in an arm and a leg while screaming in pain. The attacker then puts his gun in one of the wounds and the man screams in even more pain.
  • A man is very suddenly shot and killed, his corpse is later seen with a lot of blood around it.
  • Two men get into a fight which ends with one being set on fire for a prolonged period of time before then jumping off a building. Another man then finds him later with graphic burn scars all over his body.
  • The violence is infrequent, but it can be pretty bloody.
  • A child is killed offscreen and a large blood splatter is seen on the adjacent wall.
  • Blood streams out of a character's mouth for a second after losing a fight. He is then seen lying in a pool of blood.
  • The grisly corpses of a man and woman are seen shortly, one of their heads falls off.
  • A man holds a woman up by her neck and then stabs her in the gut with multiple blades. She screams and spits blood.
  • Blood sprays out of a character's side torso in a stylized fashion during a sword vs. spear fight.
  • A character stabs himself in the chest and spits blood, blood then starts pouring out of his eyes, leaving his face rather bloodied as he dies in agony.
  • Multiple people are shot and killed (occasionally with blood) by a protagonist.
  • The character that uses Caster is a murderer, usually when there is a shot of him there are dead children or dead women.

Profanity

  • Surprisingly mild for this type of anime. In the English dub, there is fairly infrequent use of words like "damn", "hell", "bastard", and "ass". There is at least one use each of "son of a bitch" and "s**t" in the entire show. The Japanese version with English subtitles could vary depending on the translator. In both versions, one character continually refers to almost anyone else as a "mongrel".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some casual drinking by multiple characters, but never to the point of getting drunk.
  • A few instances of smoking and drinking. Notably, a male protagonist smokes almost regularly (he has been smoking since he was underage).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are several scenes where men strangle women with their bare hands.
  • There are several scenes showing children being killed or have already been killed. This may disturb sensitive viewers.
  • The darkest Fate story
  • A character is chained to a wall and forced to eat a huge bug.
  • A character is seen trying to summon a "demon" using the blood of a couple he has just murdered, and informs their tied up and gagged child that he's going to feed him to it if it works.
  • A withered character is hit in the calf, causing him to scream briefly.
  • There are characters who stand out as exceedingly abhorrent villains who enjoy killing and the suffering of others just for the sake of it and/or consider such things mere entertainment. There are also characters who don't necessarily enjoy it, but still kill/make people suffer without remorse.
  • This series is a lot less violent and less disturbing than most TV-MA anime like Elfen Lied, Danganronpa, and Hellsing Ultimate. But strong caution should still be taken.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A man, while in an uncontrollable state, chokes a woman for a prolonged period of time. Eventually, she goes limp right as the man comes to his senses and screams out in agony at what he's done.
  • A man is stabbed in the back and killed, a large pool of blood forms around him.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man blows up a plane with a single living woman onboard (at her request) to prevent the destruction of a city. Being that the man and woman were very close before then, the man ends up having an emotional breakdown shortly afterwards.
  • A flashback reveals that a teen girl got turned into a vampire after her friend couldn't bring himself to kill her, and as a result, an entire village was slaughtered and turned into vampires. This scene is very intense, violent, and saddening.
  • Many main characters die, and most of them are sympathetic and relatable characters who didn't deserve it, which makes it very emotionally intense.
  • There is a complete destruction of a city that implies that many people died.
