Well acted...
songod-9500320 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Kudos to the cast. Especially for Madison Iseman who did an excellent job playing a complex character working in a necessary but unusual profession.

One thing did not make a lick of sense though. How did the crazy grave digger character get security footage of the morticians workroom and then splice it into the video being shown the wedding??

The vid at the wedding\church would not have come from an internet site but from a server in the building so no hacking the signal. He'd have had to steal the footage from the funeral home (a feat in itself), then broken into the church, found the right file, used editing software to insert the stolen footage, and... see? Made no sense.

Oh, and he'd have to had known the groom was going to make the video as the bride did not and was surprised by it! Another wtf.

Other than that huge blunder - fine episode. Gave it a 7 for Madison Iseman.

Necro

Warning: Spoilers
Not sure how I feel about them continuing to leave subtle hints about the ending throughout. You knew as soon as the friend mentioned the married couple with one buried alive that this is the direction they were going to head.

Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable episode, that gave us a crazed character and did not divert from that premise. I was not familiar with Madison Iseman before this episode, but she did a very good job in this complex role.

The right mix of drama and comedy regarding the situation, and for once the ending did not make me completely shake my head, even if it did end up as predictable.

Predictable
mjsreg12 September 2022
Yet another AHS episode that fails to deliver the quality story lines the franchise was famous for.

The acting was fine, as was the production, but every step of this story was predictable and failed to grab my interest. At halfway through I considered just not bothering to wait until the end, but I did.

I can see AHS being cancelled in the not too distant future if it carries on in a downward spiral of nothingness.

The last two series have not been up to the same quality and high standards set as a precedent in previous series, and it shows.

No doubt die-hard fans will stick with it desperately clinging on in the hope that things will change.

Best Episode Of The Whole Series!
flowerstardust19795 September 2022
I wish the quality of this episode was seen in the series as a whole. Whilst I've enjoyed watching AMH Stories the episodes are hit and miss. This season has been better than season 1 though on a whole. Necro, at first I thought I knew what was coming from the title, then I was horrified and then I was extremely uncomfortable. It was morbid and twisted but it got those reactions out of me and in a weird way it was a twisted love story about 2 people who were both very effed up. I applaud the writers and hope that we can have this level of greatness in every episode. It was also very well acted. To those who hated it and were horrified, that was the point and it obviously succeeded in horrifying you.

Uhhhhh.....

Warning: Spoilers
What the h*** was that????? Easily the worst episode of the whole series so far. It wasn't even scary, and it didn't even make sense. I only jumped one time during the whole episode when he awakens and grabs her. Also how do you fall in love with someone that quickly after a couple days of working together? Lol. The ending was so dumb when they just die together too. What was the point of this? They didn't clarify if the guy was a necrophiliac like she was. Super disappointing episode. How do you "save" someone by ruining their life with a viral video and taking away their freedom to live, and how do you "save" someone by literally killing them? Oh and please have hotter guys on the future episodes, preferably big husky bear men lol.

Original story and great acting
sean_mc_manus14 October 2022
Finally a great episode, good story. Good acting and the image quality was excellent 👍 It has been a while since we got a good storyline, I also like the fact that it is not fantasy but could be a true story.

I'm looking forward to the next episodes and can't wait the new season of American Horror story to be available on Disney plus in Belgium.

Just NO!
tonyandsilvia19941 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I should have known it wouldn't last. The previous two episodes in my opinion had been ok, and then came Necro.

Having realised Facelift, the previous episode, hadn't featured anything gory or repulsive, the "writers" decided from the off to show you a mortician working on a cadaver. Nice. Thanks for that.

What followed in the next few minutes was entertaining, pay rise, nice (but dull) partner, troubled past. And then the other dude turns up. Brief flirtation, with no chemistry between the actors. Unconvincing.

Now even I thought AHS had some places it just wouldn't go. But no. There is nowhere this show won't go, no depths it plumb for cheap and nasty thrills.

The mortician decides to start "working" on the new dude when he turns up dead. Not "working" working, but working as in humping a dead body. Seriously? But no!!! He's not really dead! It's a joke. Funny eh?

Then he turns up at her wedding, and everyone gets to see her humping his 'dead' body on a video screen. But it's ok. He did it cos he loves her! That's a relief. It doesn't matter her life is ruined. At least he loves her!!

I've included so many spoilers so you don't have to watch it. Without doubt, it's one of the worst 45 minutes of TV I've seen in a long time. Hang your heads Murphy and Falchuk.

Beautifully twisted
Reviewer483584 September 2022
For the first time while watching an American Horror Stories episode, I found myself horrified in a way that only the classic show could achieve. This is the perfect example of a bite sized horror story that reflects the best twisted side of American Horror Story. The dialogue for the most part is strong, avoiding the cringe worthy moments that have plagued many ahstories episodes. I found the ending particularly chilling, free from any lackluster/predictable plot twists. (another issue that has ruined many American horror stories episodes) This episode is definitely not for the faint of heart, but once I turned it on I had to watch it through.

Sick, with no meaning? Where are the HORROR stories?
Vaxi29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sick story of necrofiliac. Just sick, without meaning. I used to be a fan of Ryan Murphy, but American Horror Story and Stories has been awful these last seasons. No plot, just something that is sick so some of the fans are happy? But I must ask, what kind of people find episode of necrofiliac "ecxelent story"? Wake up! American Horror Story and Stories have reached their end. There hasn't been good horror in these for a long time. Horror has been replaced with plots of no ending, no answers to the story. Just being sick is not good horror. It's sad, but time to say goodbye is here! Good riddence!

Best Episode in a Very, Very Long Time...
stevesinger-20012 September 2022
"Necro" is one of the best episodes in the "American Horror Story" universe in a very long time, possibly the best since AHS Season 2 (Asylum). Beginning with Season 3 ("Coven") and through the other seasons and the previous "American Horror Stories" episodes, almost everything can be summarized as "They're witches -- aren't they FABULOUS?" or "She's a vampire -- isn't she FABULOUS?" or "She's a serial killer -- isn't she FABULOUS?"

"Necro" brings us back to the glory days. Madison Iseman plays Sam, a young mortician who truly cares about her work. She lives with her perfect boyfriend Jesse and just wants to live her best life. But she's afraid that she's not normal and an encounter at work threatens to send her down a spiral...

"Necro" is fantastic. It's creepy and weird and disturbing and you can't take your eyes off it. Madison Iseman knocks it out of the park, she makes you feel for Sam and root for her every step of the way. And the episode nails the ending, which is horrifying and beautiful at the same time.

Honestly, I didn't hink Ryan Murphy and team had something like this in them anymore. Even if you're given up on this show, this one is worth the time.

Drivel
foxielaydie26 October 2022
If a teenage magazine met American Horror Story this would be the poor, and disappointing result. A very slow story line with no real twists or surprises, and very two dimensional characters. The main horror 'event' wasnt filmed in a disturbing way and it was far too tame by fat. Main character lacks depth and love interests and both very off putting. Utterly ridiculous, not scary or atmospheric just a rather long peice of boring nonsense. The worst episode by far of both seasons. Please bring back the spooky and atmospheric stuff, this feels like a GCSE. Media peice by a fifteen year old. Do better!

Bravo
Tr-u-mpbilly2 September 2022
Finally, an episode worth watching. I mean a distubing, sick and twisted episode, but unique.

I'm a bit sorry about being the first review, I wanted to read reviews from people losing their minds about this subject matter. The title says it fairly well.

As usual for the series, the production is top-notch, it is the writing that excels here. Every bit of the story ties together in the end, they do not waste a moment. The storline is engrossing througout, although nauseating and sad at times.

I would not suggest this for children or anyone easily offended. I could have happily, lived the rest of my years without seeing this film, but I couldn't turn away once it started. Good luck to those who dare.

Um, Cold pack?
lirmihn17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Started at a 7 for me, ended at 4.

It takes some finesse to do the whole mortician story thing. 6 Feet Under, good example. In the Flesh, although not on perfect point, was very watchable.

I thought this started well, it had flow, she was interesting, there was reasonable tension.

Enter co-worker, yep, cute & creepy, lot of great possibilities. Boyfriend/fiancé doesn't like the way she smells, yep, creepy & reasonable.

But it's a wedge. Her girl friends see problems. Wedge. All predictably leading up to dead cute-creepy boy. With whom she has sex (kind of). Yep, gross, creepy, read the title. She has an epiphany & goes back to marry the boring boyfriend. Wedding is a sabotage cluster****, and in the aftermath of her confronting creepy-cute-not-dead-Guy who is completely in love with her it Just. Fell. Apart.

A great premise only remains great if it can be nicely wrapped up with less than 2 wtf moments. Many of these stories have suffered the same fate for me. I did like Dollhouse, Aura, & Facelift this season. I loved several of the original AHS seasons. So many of these short stories just seem tired, and a waste of the good talent that they've had. And the endings bomb.

Necro is the title, so...
kfp20063 September 2022
Only four reviews so far as I write mine. Looks like you either hate this episide or really enjoyed it. I was happily freaked out by it and think it was the best episode of the season. Better, even, than Dollhouse because of the unique, bordering on taboo subject matter. Get over the necro part. Hello, this is a horror show!

The rest of the story plays on feelings we all have in dark times; alone, rejected, like a freak (for whatever reason), like no one will ever understand. In the end this episode is an old fashion romance with grande gestures (sans a boombox). I thought it was fun! Eh, the wedding scene was a little over the top, but all in all I say great story.

More Black Mirror than AHS
toddlloyd9121 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry but the hell was that?

Like I don't get it.

I get your past can give you mental scars.

I get your past can make you "Weird" (Nothing weird being around dead people, it's a honouring job to have a job like Sam's) But.. to cry over and have sex with the corpse of someone you've only known what seems like a week of knowing them because "They get you" and then agreeing to marry your Fiancé.. Hmmmm.

Then when he completely destroys her life and he does it to make her feel "Saved", they have sex again, when she shot him point blank. Then they go and die in an open grave being filled up.

This episode proper grossed me out and for all the wrong reasons, was so close to skipping the episode after the necrophilic part.

Season 2 has felt more Black Mirror then AHS.. least then I can accept half the stories.

Woah what an episode
harry-345181 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let's start off the acting is amazing madison gives the best performance we've seen yet on this show as a compelling protagonist with fascinating intentions. The writing here is a lot stronger than we've seen on this show previously, the people talk like actual people for once. At it's core this episode is a gross love story and I'm here for it conversations about the journey of death is really interesting. Sams back story is tragic and really helps drive her character intentions and trauma and madison puts her soul into a brilliant performance. Although the sex with dead bodies thing was painful to watch. And thankfully no stupid twist. In conclusion I really respect everyone on this episode for going as far as they did and exploring some gross stuff.

What the ecky thump?!
maxpem3 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This season has been extremely hit and miss, mainly miss to be fair. This is the worst of the lot.

What it all boils down to in my mind, is that I had been shot at point blank range in the stomach and was currently being buried alive by tonnes of soil in an open grave I wouldn't have much of a sex drive.

The best part of AHS has been the reviews, some of them have been hilarious. A lot of the characters look too similar to each other so it gets really confusing. 'Drive' I mean you. This and American Horror Story seem to be reliant on the loyalty of the viewers, but so many of us just seem to be turning up and watching in the hope that things are going to get better but with no real expectation that it will.

The second best part of AHS has been the cameos.

Probably the best episode of AHS along with Aura
agasi99913 November 2022
Necro had me squirming in my seat. Its not exactly horror but makes for really uncomfortable viewing. The lead actress is really good and that makes it quite harrowing to sit through as you end up sympathising with her. Ultimately the finale as bonkers as it may seem somehow works. Hats off to the makers and actors for truly trying something new and different. For me this and Aura were the best episodes of the series, and take that from a horror fan aficionado. If you are someone who's sensitive and easily offended this episode will offend you in more ways than one but for the rest of us you'll be shocked and probably feel a bit sad by the end of it all.

San Junipeiro for Gothic People
pseudomaus-4303218 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have to speak up about this; if you a normal healthy person repulsed by Necrophilia, one of the worst human taboos, it is understandable of the reaction however American Horror Story/Stories is a horror show. THIS IS HORROR. If you are repulsed by the love of the dead, just walk away. If you do not enjoy horror and love it above all else then this episode (and maybe this whole franchise) is not for you.

Within, Necro is a lovely concept, a beautiful romance between two morbid geeks, and a love triangle drama that plays out exactly as we want for maximum enjoyment. Best episode of the series. Goths and the darkly inclined will love it.

The acting is incredible, the flashback scenes are grossly delicious and the opening gothic track makes it the perfect home to relax to a lovely story.

The love triangle drama got a little bent during the wedding, since what the goth boyfriend did to her was so problematic. But I realize that's for the dramatic element. Ultimately, this will have a place in my heart as a nice horror romance which frankly there just isn't enough of.
