A re-born Miss Congeniality goes-to-a wedding, most romantic comedy fans will enjoy it heartily
inkblot1112 February 2013
Tanya (Brooke Burns) is a covert law enforcement officer. She herself, once in love, was jilted at the altar. Therefore, these days, she is more concerned with karate chops than kisses. But, as luck would have it, she is assigned to go undercover as a bridesmaid to protect a lovely Texas heiress, Daisy (Nicole Paggi) who is about to be wed and has been receiving threatening letters. Mr. Thompson (Gregory Harrison), her dad, will spare no expense to make certain his daughter is safe. Naturally, Tanya hates the idea but has no choice, getting some moral support from fellow agent Henry (Shashawnee Hall). Soon, Tanya has to participate in group hugs, girly pre-bridal festivities and more. Once a good-looking groomsman named Jake (Justin Baldoni) shows up, Tanya does start to lose some of her wariness and stiff demeanor. But, will Jake distract Tanya from her main pursuit, which is to keep an eye on Daisy? For those that adore the film Miss Congeniality or light romantic comedy, it would be safe to predict a liking for this movie, too. Yes, its somewhat adhered to a formula and a "borrowing" of elements, but that's of little importance. The cast of Burns, Paggi, Hall, Harrison, Baldoni and all others, is very attractive and entertaining while costumes, sets, script and direction definitely measure up. As such, if you see yourself as a potential fan, get the DVD and snuggle under the covers of your bed for a nice, warm, fun evening.

Cuter than i expected!
jml198821 November 2019
This was much different and better than I was expecting. The beginning fight scene just seemed so cheesy, I was groaning, but the rest of the movie turned out well! While I feel it was unrealistic for the bride and friends to be SO warm and welcoming, being millionaire heiresses, I suppose you never know!

Wedding cake
doodlejohnson5 September 2020
I enjoyed this movie, but as a wedding cake maker, I laughed at the cake. This supposed to be a very wealthy family and to see the cake and the crooked fondant banding around the cake. A kid could have made it.it was such a pathetic wedding cake, i had to laugh. Pay attention to details please.

Misses the mark
tkell3122 June 2013
I know what they were aiming for, but they went off formula and created an awkward mess. Doesn't come off as particularly cute, the pairing of Brooke and a guy who looks much younger was an awful decision as they had zero chemistry. Although Brooke is only 6 years older than the actor in real life she looks more like 10-12 years older due to the actor looking really young.

The attempt to add some action in a Hallmark production was a disaster as the scene with Brooke running in high heels looked ridiculous and the effects were college quality. Looks like Hallmark got out of their depth and it showed.

Paggi was the breath of fresh air as the charming bride, but all in all this fails as a rom com and whatever else they were aiming for.

Some funny moments
Jackbv12317 June 2018
Some silly situations lead to some laughs, but not rolling on the floor.

The acting is not good. I've never liked Brooke Burns' acting and this movie is no different. She doesn't come off as natural. In this movie she plays a reserved woman and for that she doesn't need to act. Still she is an attractive woman who catches your attention. There were a few actors who overplayed a little even for comedy. Nicole Pagg, as Daisy,i had some good moments but mixed overall. Justin Baldoni, as Jake, was OK.

As to the mystery, the clues were there. I missed them. Right before the climax, Tanya replays them in her head which is nice for the viewer.

music too loud! but movie references were fun to find
novagirl118 September 2020
First of all, the music in this movie is way too loud! I literally had to turn on subtitles because my mom and I both could not hear the dialogue over the background music. Honestly, other than that, I enjoyed this movie, mostly because I had fun looking for all the references to other movies, including the following that I noticed: Miss Congeniality, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, Father of the Bride, Legally Blonde, Twilight, Wedding Crashers, Sweet Home Alabama, and The Wedding Date. Brooke Burns is not my favorite actress, but I really liked watching Justin Baldoni in a role outside of Jane the Virgin!

Wedding Jitters
boblipton16 April 2012
Hallmark tries a variation on MISS CONGENIALITY as Brooke Burns plays Tanya, a competent young woman working for a private security firm, goes undercover at a rich man's daughter's wedding.

The script is decent, but it feels as if the emotional transitions lack much subtlety as characters change but do so in neat, ratcheting leaps suddenly from one position to another. The script tries to do too much for the cast and crew to handle, dealing with family issues, the mystery aspects -- tracking down who, if anyone, is trying to harm the bride -- and the revelation of Tanya's emotional background.

Miss Burns is all right as Tanya, but it's hard to differentiate the character's discomfort with the situation from Miss Burns' ability as an actress. Nicole Paggi is surprisingly good as Daisy, the bride-to-be who starts as a ditz and remains one throughout, but one with heart.

UNDERCOVER BRIDESMAID is a good Hallmark Channel TV-movie that shows signs of some good work here and there. The uneven realization of details keeps it from being exceptional, but it should be a pleasant experience for anyone who is likely to see it.

Who wants to hit the bride
Prismark1031 December 2014
Undercover Bridesmaid sees Brooke Burns as a once jilted security agent going undercover as a bridesmaid in order to protect a bride to be as she has received threatening letters and her father is sparing no expense to keep her safe.

The agent rather stiff about the girly pre- marital rituals gets into the wedding spirit when the groomsman turns up as her attraction to him lightens her up.

This is a typical Hallmark production aimed squarely at ladies with shades of Miss Congeniality but with a lower budget and less laughs. Brooke looks too old to be hitting it with the groomsman and the romance subplot comes across as awkward. However the mystery is diverting enough with enough red herrings to keep you mild entertained.

Not your typical cheesy wedding movie
auntiedd77711 May 2012
When I saw the title, 'Undercover Bridesmaids' I immediately thought 'Oh, here we go again! Another wedding movie'. I debated whether or not to watch. My fear? It was going to be cheesy and predictable. But far from it, it was funny, with suspense, action, some drama, and very well acted.

I mean I 'awwwed' and just had that good feeling you get from watching love stories. What I really admired about this one though was how it successfully balanced the romantic theme with the action aspect while bringing out values such as honesty, forgiveness.... in friendship, family and in love.

Definitely worth multiple watches!

Less sugar than coke zero
korneel-brq4 September 2013
Light, light, light. I was amazed the director was actually not a woman. The idea behind the script was not bad at all, but the movie didn't make it much further than a chick flick.

The acting and filming and music are comparable to the ones used in TV- shows like sex and the city, the characters are living clichés and the plot is predictable.

Nonetheless, i had to laugh a couple of times, whether it was intentionally funny or not.

This is a feel-good movie for the ones amongst us who do not want to think to much while watching it.

Really?
crdnls6 September 2020
It could have been fun, but ended up too over the top to be either a comedy or suspenseful. Gave up watching after about 20 minutes.

Not much Stands Out
tiffanytallent198126 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is nothing spectacular, but it is a cute watch on a lazy day. The acting is occasionally a bit stiff and some of the character's behavior isn't realistic, given the situation. The bride, Daisy, may be adorable, but she didn't seem to care at all that her life was threatened. She just wanted her special day and gave her dad continuous flack about having security precautions. I mean, that would be expected of a teenager, but not a woman in her mid 20's. Then Tanya, the woman hired to protect her, starts having feelings for another member of the wedding party. At one point, he talks her into taking a walk with him. So she leaves Daisy for several minutes, even though it is her job to guard her at all times. And of course that's when Daisy almost gets shot. They had already caught one guy who confessed to previous threats, so I guess Tanya felt it was safe enough to leave her. But if your job is to GUARD someone at ALL times, you don't let them out of your sight.

Overall, the movie was a tad boring. I'm sitting here trying to go back through the sequence of events and not much is standing out. The action sequences were few and bare. There was hardly any chemistry between Tanya and her crush. Daisy and her fiancé actually did seem to fit well together though. I did like that Tanya and Daisy became friends. Their personalities are completely different so I think they'll complement each other well. The best part in the movie for me was at the wedding, when Tanya stops the REAL saboteur.

Oh and one thing got on my nerves more than anything else. Daisy's father always referred to Tanya as 'little lady'. And it was always in this dismissive or condescending tone. After about the 5th time, I wanted to punch him. Lol.

TV Style Quality Sometimes Leaving Out Real Life Details
joelirwin5 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Watched it on Hallmark channel last night with my wife. She immediately mentioned the actress seemed to be a take off on Sandra Bullock's Miss Congeniality.

Otherwise, my interest for feedback here is purely to talk about how this film and other similar films don't pay full attention to details when depicting weddings. I come from the orientation of a professional in the wedding industry (I am a wedding videographer). The wedding depicted in this film is what I would consider a 'high end' wedding and at a very expensive mansion with many very rich guests attending. It is therefore inconceivable to me that at such a wedding, one would skimp on any wedding services. I have worked at weddings in small motel facilities, small halls and backyards as well as high end facilities like the Omni Hotel and country clubs. And I would say that in 95%+ of them there are one and perhaps multiple photographers who are taking pictures not only at the ceremony but before and after. There is no photographer is in this film at all.

The wedding also does not any live music/band or videographer (which I would have expected at a wedding this size). And finally, the officiating person had a collar. Now I am not Christian, but in my experiences, a collared officiator would be Catholic and this did not appear to me to be a Catholic ceremony. Though I am told the officiator could be Episcopalian/Anglican and I am not familiar with the ceremony at their weddings.

My guess is the filmmakers/producers felt all the details left out of the wedding were not necessary to promote and convey the plot/action and hence did not want to spend the money adding it. However, in my opinion, doing so makes a wedding feel less 'real world'.
