She was born a noble, you're illegitimate!
After two pointless episodes , the fifth segment is perhaps the best : both women , the aristocrat and the peasant , refuted the social classes and became more than friends , they were true sisters .
But their past comes back : Virginie's aunt wants her niece to come back to France because they say she's only got two years to live and to die in solitude frightens her .And Paul is an illegitimate son , his marriage with a noble who will inherit a fortune ,is it still possible?
In France , Virginie, dressed up as a grande dame , seems disguised ; in the convent ,she learns reading and writing ,only to write her mom a letter .
Meanwhile ,Paul , completely uneducated,is taught by the wise old man : he draws a map of the continents to show the young man where his beloved one is gone .
In spite of an occasional gaffe (the modest Virginie strips bare for the bath , much to the nuns' disgust ), this is perhaps the most satisfying episode in the miniseries .
