The 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, took place on Sunday (September 23rd). Showtime's "Homeland" won in the Best Drama category, denying "Mad Men" a record fifth consecutive win. "Modern Family" took home its third straight Best Comedy award. Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" won its 10th consecutive Emmy, which resulted in Jon Stewart being censored during his acceptance speech for saying the F-word. Julianne Moore (pictured) won for Best Actress in a Mini-Series for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's "Game Change." Moore stated: "Wow, I feel so validated because Sarah Palin gave me a big thumbs down." And Jon Cryer won Best Actor for "Two and a Half Men," something he admitted was not possible with Charlie Sheen around. "The show was really structured around [Sheen's] character, so it was silly for me to be in the lead character [category]. That's changed [with Ashton Kutcher]. It's more of a partnership...

The critics might have given Ricky Gervais' hosting performance at the 69th Annual Golden Globes Awards a collective thumbs-down for the most part, but according to preliminary numbers the awards ceremony held strong against last year's buzz-generating awards show. Airing from 8-11 p.m. on NBC, the Golden Globes averaged a 5.0 in the adults 18-49 demographic, just shy of last year's 5.2, and received 16.8 million total viewers, on a par with last year's 17 million. The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards delivered some expcted wins and a few surprises in the TV category. M&C loved seeing Idris Elba and Claire Danes win in their respective categories and wonders how a show like "Modern Family" beat out "Episodes" or even "Enlightened" for that matter. But the Hollywood Foreign Press featured a kinder, gentler Ricky Gervais whose on stage banter was markedly less acidic than last year's. The night's big win for films was the modern silent film "The Artist," which scored Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, Best Actor - Comedy or Musical (Jean Dujardin), and Best Original Score (Ludovic Bource). "The Descendants" snaked Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Actor - Drama...

In his opening monologue as host of The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Ricky Gervais joked that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had warned him that if he insults or offends anyone, “I’ll definitely be invited back next year!”
After tonight, we can’t say he won’t be asked to host again (he was back for his third go-round this year, wasn’t he?) but it became fairly obvious early on in the awards telecast that Gervais would rather be doing something else. Anything else.
Rather than shocking his way out of a return invitation, Gervais took the route of safety and boredom. Where he landed memorable stinging jabs across the egos of Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. in past Globes…...

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards take place Sunday night and though all the pre-show hype has been about what controversial host [1] Ricky Gervais will say when he takes the stage, there are some important awards to discuss too. Though the validity of the Globes are regularly questioned, it's extremely influential simply because it's live on television and everyone is watching. For films like The Artist, Midnight in Paris and The Help, a win at the Globes could mean a direct route to the Oscars. In case you aren't watching, we've got you covered. I'll be updating this post with all the winners as they happen. Plus, I'll keep you informed of which celebrities take a thrashing courtesy of Gervais, who, if anyone, gets extremely drunk and all of the other potential craziness that occurs when Hollywood's elite sit in a ballroom with free, unlimited booze and live television cameras.

If last year was any indication, this Sunday's Golden Globe awards will be filled with hilarious—and some offensive—comedy from host Ricky Gervais. But that doesn't mean the show's head honchos are cracking down on the comedian this year. "There are no rules," Dick Clark Productions' Executive Vice President of Television Barry Adelman told us earlier today. "We know what he does, and we're just as interested to see it as you are." However, there's one Golden Globe nominee who isn't so excited for Gervais' personal jabs and jokes... "I just think that we have to be mindful that we're always talking about human beings," The Help's...

Beverly Hills, Calif. -- The stage is set for the Golden Globe Awards, but the tables, not so much.
Dozens of dining tables stood stacked against the walls of the Beverly Hilton Hotel's International Ballroom, where nominees including George Clooney, Viola Davis and Leonardo DiCaprio will be seated during Sunday's ceremony.
With two days until the live broadcast, executive producer Barry Adelman and director Louis J. Horvitz are still tweaking the script and the seating chart.
"Chaos is always a part of it," Adelman said of the last-minute show preparations.
Workers bustled around the ballroom Thursday afternoon, putting the finishing touches on the set's sloping chandeliers and installing remote-controlled cameras on stage to offer viewers at home a fresh perspective on the festivities.
Seventeen cameras, including the two new robotic ones on stage, will capture the action during the three-hour show.
"You take one shot and there's like 20 different stars in it,...
